[Rumour] Boeser On Block

Zacha holds and carry’s the puck better than Boeser.

He is also stronger on the boards and a better skater.

My opinion.  From watching both players play.

Boeser had become a one trick pony, who opposing teams know will cough up the puck under pressure or button hook up boards.

Boeser IS overrated.

Everything you and I say is subjective when it comes to who carries the puck better, who sees the ice better.  I mean Justin Bailey is faster, carries the puck better, and is stronger on the boards than most of our forwards.

But you know what is not subjective? The friggen stats.

This , by Boeser's standards, is a down year yet he currently has 31 points...Zacha's best year is 35 points.   Now im sure you are going to remind us that poor Zacha doesnt get the same treatment Boeser does (even though Corey posted stats showing he gets favorable zone starts and a boatload of ice time) but the proof is in the pudding.  If Zacha was this big strong dynamic player he would put up more points than he has, its not like NJ has been deprived of elite talent since he got drafted.  Its not lie he hasnt been given the opportunity...there are blogs written about how NJ management and coaches have tried to get this guy going by playing him up and down the lineup.

What is concerning (or more amusing) is how quickly the nooses have come out ... Horvat has been quiet for a few months, Boeser led the team last year in scoring but he is having a down year by his standards, now we want to trade them for 40 point plugs.  I even read that Lammikko is a potential replacement for Horvat somewhere in here, as if we know that Lammikko can hold up over the long term taking all those draws and being tasked to face the other teams best players night after night- just because hes an exciting new toy that has scored a bit lately. lol  Love the kid, and hope it works out for him, but come on.

I'd have no issues with Zacha being involved in a bigger deal

Im not saying dont trade Brock.  Im saying if Brock goes a very good D man should be coming back, thats where this team needs help the most.

I doubt he gets you one though. Maybe like a 28yo top 4D with 1 year left on their contract. But not a Schneider or a Clarke etc.

I saw Lamikko shut down McDavid and Ryan OReily in the same week .

I haven’t seen Bo do that.

Thats upside.

and his FOffs were pretty remarkable, I don’t know where they are right now, and quite frankly,. I’m not into stats much.

Luck has as much to do in this game as talent.

I don’t think of Zacha as , “poor Zacha”..

I think he has a better tool box, he is stronger on the puck and more engaged,. Less perimeter play,a big net/ crease presence,. And balanced their, not easily tossed.

Physically , watching Zacha he times his hits well,.  My guess is his hit stats outweigh Boeser immensely.

Thats the type of forward we need.

This switch hasn’t just flipped with me, I have not been a Boeser fan for over a year.

He is a great asset to move right now,.  I hope he scores a few more before he leaves.

We need more Physically engaged players that make a difference, and still contribute in points.

Zacha could do well here,.  As could DeBrusk.

Its up to Boudreau to get the best out of his players as it is the players themselves.

I just think we’ve hit the expiry date with Boeser.

Strong physical play goes deeper in the playoffs..  perimeter players get crushed.

To get a young impact D man we prob have to give up Miller. I guess my standard of "very good" is a replacement for anyone on our D core not named OEL or Hughes.

The bottom line (for me anyway) I dont see the point of trading Forwards for Forwards when the blatant holes are on the back end.

Brock for a PK specialist RHC and a decent Prospect forward with some edge to his game I could see. Toss in a 2nd we can draft one of Bichsel, Lammoreux, Pickering and I'm all over it.

I see Boeser for

        Zacha

          one of Shakir / Bahl.
           and a 2nd rnd pick

if we do better Great!

I don’t know why everyone here is trying to compare Zacha to Boeser?

Ive never thought of this move as a player for player trade.

I like Zacha, I think he could contribute immensely to our Center strength.

Good Gawd Sam, I once saw Cassels shut down McDavid in Junior like a boss. I once saw Jeff Cowan score 5 goals in 6 games.  The sample size here is not large enough, its mind boggling to me that you would think Lammy can take Horvat's reigns.  Bo is probably our best overall forward - hes having a so so year.  You dont give up on guys like Bo just because of one year.

So now hes ready to replace Bo? You are impressed quite quickly, and bring out the noose when things dont go as planned just as quick :-)

Proof is in the pudding.  if he has multiple attributes that are so much better why has he never a) put up 40 points b) had a higher point total than Boeser in any season, ever.   Lets Forget Boeser for a moment.........Zacha was drafted in 2015 and has never put up more than 40 points.  Not  great for a  supposed dynamic powerhouse.

I wont argue that this team doesnt need more physical - tougher - players.  But if you are going to trade one of your best assets it better be for more than a Zacha and it should address the biggest hole on the team which is D.

I respect your opinion here, I just think you are barking up the wrong tree with Zacha.

Swap Poolman and Severson between teams instead of the 2nd round pick and I do that.  Upgrade our D as a bandaid for a couple years.

so we are here arguing about how good Brock is, or isnt.

Here is a thread from a NJ board, NJ perspective on Zacha.

Ya I'm not overly thrilled with Zacha I would have traded Virtanen for him before JB re upped Virtanen. Even made a proposal thread I don't care to find atm. But I wouldn't be prepared to give up Brock for him unless Macleod and a 2nd are coming with him.

Maybe they thought you had the same idea as one poster that suggested it would be Zacha for Boeser+.

I'm losing track of all the rumours around everyone, who's rumoured to land Boeser?

Either New Jersey or now possibly Pittsburgh is the latest...going to be a wild ride to the deadline I am sure!

New Jersey is the best trading partner.

Not really interested in the Pens prospects. And I hope JR isn’t just determined to get Kapanen back.

I agree and I don't think NJ is a great partner for that reason.  I could see him moving on a hockey deal, maybe the Avs straight across for Sam Girard or Nashville for Philip Myers and a pick....... something like that.
