Brock skates around in the soft ice never doing anything stands around waiting to be spoon fed points. Motte is a gamer.

With less than a 1/4 of Brocks skill. Not to mention Boeser wins a lot of puck battles for such a so called “soft player”

To he honest when is this team's window? I think 2 or 3 years at this rate is an ambitious goal. If anything if the window starts after that, the 7 year window would be perfect timing by then

The Window is open now; until we are out, the window is open.

7 to 8 years??  Demko would be 33 to 34 years old by then .... :sadno:

Better hope he has the longetivity of Patrick Roy theni

Sadly this is the the problem I see with the team. You have Demko, Pettersson, and Hughes but because of all the moves the previous Management made, it would take a few years to just "clean up" the mess that was made to have a good roster to support the young core. And this doesn't happen overnight (I mean just ask Edmonton lol).

Just keep the guy!  That's just a stupid friggin' deal.

This management is not off to a good start.

Serious do you think the new management team wouldn't want more then a 4th rounder??? Of course they would of like a 2nd round pick or young prospect..'

Face reality this is his value to the rest of the NHL teams...

We all use to complain management needed to get something for players going into UFA in the summer? So we got a 4th round pick that's good..

No way can we continue to sigh 4ht line layers for over 2 million?? Motte and his agent think he is worth over 2 million?

Motte and agent might be surprised come this summer and they don't get the big contract..

Glad we got something for Motte 27 UFA this July..

A capped out team, with a below average D, that's last in penalty killing, and no prospects in the system? I think these are problems that will take awhile to fix

Management did great unloading Hamonic 31 and his 3 million dollar contract..Oh we get a 3rd rounder back that's a steel of a deal...

New management team did great...

Absolutely disgusting.  Would have rather kept Motte.

Only way this makes sense is if Motte indicated he is absolutely leaving this organization.  Then it makes you wonder what that spells out for the other upcoming players like Miller.

His value to the other 30 teams was a 4th rounder? Can't sign 4th line players for over 1.5 million..

Motte and his agent must be thinking they will get a deal like Dickinson?

Glad we got something for  a UFA that will walk for nothing...

Great job new management team...

Winners win because they develop a winning attitude and work with it to achieve their goals.

Constantly whining about how hard it is to win, to advance, to build a better team, etc., does not help achieve goals.

Look at those stupid predictions like we were out of the playoffs 10 games into the season.

Why play the game at all if you constantly concentrate on what you can't do or who you don't have?

Even once we are out of the playoffs, if that happens, we still need to stay positive and try to win every game.

These Negative Nellies that call themselves Realists obviously have no idea how to develop winners.

Check out the Ukrainians; they are winners even though the Russians are way stronger and blowing everybody up.

They stay strong and build hope and do whatever they can to keep that hope growing.

You go every face-off, every shift, every battle, every period, game, everything, with the mind-set that you are going to succeed.

That is how you do it.

Could flop in NY test the market and be underwhelmed and head back to where he is a fit?

Seems unlikely.

Motte wants to get paid the big bucks. We shouldn’t be the team to do it. Great trade. No. Not for a team with like 10 GM’s. Overreaction from fans a bit. Yes. Love Motter but it looks like it’s time to move on.

I think people are overestimating what he’ll actually go for, unless he has an out of this world showing with NY.

Brock wins no puck battles never seen him battle ever. When what???? Battles. Who? Brock hahaha???

You quotiing that bogus stat on J fresh twitter. Brocks 52.5% puck battles works out to 21 battles won of 40 on the entire season 2020/2021.

Brocks got 26 hits in 58 games what battle that's a joke right?

The org needs to start developing players at the AHL to cycle into these 4th line roles for cheap. Developing guys that can pk, play with energy, and score once in a blue moon like Motte should be the bread and butter of a good org.  Once they establish themselves after a few years flip them.. rinse and repeat.

Agree

Love Motte, but love the Canucks more,  so knowing this is a cap decision to take advantage of a top 4 D or top 6 forward in the summer, then we should be all in.

Can't afford to over pay the Beagles, Roussels and Mottes of the world for 4th line duties anymore if we want to build a pretender to contender IMO

We were not going to re-sign Motte.

Are you seriously trying to say Motte is better than Boeser?

Motte is a 4th liner who is fast and kills penalties. Never hit 20 points in his career.
