CRAZY_4_NAZZY
A little surprised he wasn't able to take off after signing with Ottawa, had a solid career at North Dakota. Nice depth signing.

Junkyard Dog
Depth guy. Should be competition for extra D spot in training camp.
EternalCanuckFan
I guess management is really not too thrilled about the available RHD free agents.
StanleyCupOneDay
Free depth defenceman that costs only minimum salary in cap space? Sign me up. Can never have too many D. 2

Popular Post Ilya Mikheyev
Wanted him picked up on waivers last year and played over Hunt. Didn't happen He'll be competing for 6th/7th D in Van/1 LHD in Abbotsford with Burroughs, Kalynuk, Rathbone and Brisebois. He's a college teammate of Boeser and Poolman, and actually led UND in points (as a defenseman) the year after Boeser left. I believe him and Poolman were D partners for a bit if I am remembering correctly. Former 4th round pick. He has 20 points in 70 NHL games which have all been scattered stints. In his only long stint he had 12 points in 30 games. Last year he paced for over .5 PPG in the AHL. He's 27 but hasn't really played a lot of hockey since COVID hit. Could definitely see him and Juulsen being a good, balanced top pairing in Abbotsford to start the year. The pool of RHD free agents is admittedly very limited, especially after day 1 of UFA. The Canucks do have some RHD at the AHL level already so that may help explain why they're not actively looking for depth RHD. Guess it shows how thin the pool of RHD are at the NHL level. Given how quickly Madison Bowey was snapped up by the Canadiens, I'm guessing there's slim pickings out there?
