I'm not a person who defends criminals, but on the scale of criminality, not declaring cash going across the border is somewhere between jaywalking and shoplifting a pack of gum.

Do not agree.  Money laundering; illegal border crossing; illegal gambling; it creates a pattern of behaviour and show no respect for the law in Canada and the USA.

And I only asked if it was true.

you don't even have to legally declare anything under $10k. if he brought in $10 mil it might be a different story, but $18k could even be an honest mistake. that's a routine thing at every border crossing in the country.

in fact, it's not even considered a "crime" not to declare, there's just a financial penalty. you're allowed to bring as much money across the line as you want.

Oh, sorry, I 'forgot' I had $18,000 in CASH.

or they didn't look up the rules first? but, uh, yeah, people who make lots of money and gamble with it could easily forget they had $18k in cash with them.

He said, he didn't like the smell of weed, and he was unhappy they tried to put him to AHL as far as i recall...

He also had to watch some Chris Pronger videos, by our then coach... weird times...

It was a disappointing story.

But why hold on to that when everything has changed in management.

Not true; you sign a declaration; making false declaration is a crime.

But my point is that it is indicative of criminal behaviour.

Nobody except people outside the law carries that amount of cash (nor forgets about it).

If Tree had issues in Vancouver with language and what is now legal drug use, good luck making a happy family in

Chicago,

Detroit,

St Louis,

New York,

Toronto

Seattle

LA

I mean maybe his stance on the world is a little more mature, but life ain't easy, even for hockey players. Vancouver was probably one of the  easiest places to start off in. Not gonna find much easier.

Side note, Calgary probably drooling right now. Getting ready to blow the Vancouver dust off of him and start wine and dining.

Tryamkin would be a big add for our club.  He was a very strong defensive D man for our group when he was still developing.  Our management didn't work with him well, which I think created some tension.  If he was to come back to us, a pairing with OEL would be almost perfect.  He is a LD but plays RD most of the time from what I remember.

I don't think people actually watched how he played.  He was obviously very physical, skated well, and changed how the other teams played.  He is nothing like Myers and is exactly the type of D we need in this iteration of the roster.  I would be fully supportive of taking a run at bringing him back if he is wanting to come back.  Having Kuz and Mik part of the club probably helps a lot.

Lol what a strange thing to get caught up on. People bring crap they're not supposed to across the border all the time. How many people have some random fruit in their RV when the come back from camping?

A "friend" once went down South to buty a 1963 Tollycraft boat. Beautiful fixer uper, all wood, just gorgeous. Super cheap down in the states. "My friend" then all got all the paperwork and transfer papers lined up and made the trip back to Canada. When "my friend" got to the border service they realized it was going to be far more of a hassle to deal with the boarder security bullies then it was just to drive through. "My friend" just didn't declare anything and off they went. Made the crossing much less of a headache.

My "friend" likes fishing in his wooden boat, even if they are now a harden criminal.

it's not a crime. you won't be arrested. your money will be confiscated until it's determined it isn't proceeds of crime, and then returned to you. you'll pay a penalty. fairly certain it isn't addressed in the criminal code.

Enough.

I asked if it happened.

If it did; it is one more straw on that camel's back.

Man you've got time on your hands...

I had family who worked as a border patrol agent…..the stories I heard. People constantly bring stuff across they shouldn’t. Is it right / okay, no, but it doesn’t make people a hardened criminal unless it’s something of a very very serious nature. Hell, just watch that show about it. It’s a constant! People make mistakes in life…some here act like they’re perfect though.

People can disagree with some of the things he has done in the past, fine, but don’t act like he’s Peci in Casino!
