Scary thing, as lean as it will be for that club this year, come next year Treliving will have mega cap space and only a fraction of the roster contracted. In time, if that was the plan, they realistically could price out EDM in the war for McDavid if they chose to do so. And fans think they are top heavy $ wise right now. KirkSave Posted August 25, 2023 Share Posted August 25, 2023 Oilers are close. They have elite talent at C- McDavid, Draisatl, Nuge, solid support wingers in Brown, Hyman, Kane. However, their bottom 6 is not nearly as deep/dangerous as say VGK or Dallas. Outside of Nurse and Ekholm, that D won't cut it either. Plus the cherry on top is their goaltending. I don't see them getting past VGK, Dallas or the LAK should they play them again in the 1st rnd. The following western teams all have better depth, well rounded teams. Dallas, VGK, Colorado, LA.
