Potentially yes, but we do have older guys we should be trading for high picks to use on defensemen and defensemen prospects. Tanev, Baer, Del Zotto, Edler, Gagner are all older guys with 2years or less of contract and should be on the move.

Tanev should fetch a D prospect+ 1st

Baer should get a D prospect

Del Zotto should get a second next deadline

Keep the young we have in Stetcher, Pouliot and maybe Guddy. Add in D prospects of Juolevi, Chatfield, Brisebois, Sautner, McEneny. 

Those guys give you a deep defensive pool but it lacks top pair talent. Only Juolevi and maybe Stetcher have the potential to be top pair guys.

Ideal trade for me would be

Tanev+Baer

for

1st+Puljujarvi

D's carry a hefty premium.  Look at what the Coilers had to give up to try and get one.

good D prospects are probably the hardest thing to find.... i can see us getting mid-round picks for Del Z and Gagner, maybe a 2nd for Baer. 

I could see Tanev getting a late 1st but I'd rather see him and Juolevi together.
