[Waivers] Islanders Place Dipietro on Waivers

yeah because signing a rookie sensation to a 15 year static contract is the same as signing a proven #1 elite goalie to a structured front loaded 12 year contract.

Spin it any way you like. Luongo brought us to game 7 or Luongo won 3 and lost 4 games all on his own.

This doesn't even account for the 3 series against Chicago which could easily be considered a choke.

You seem like more of a Luongo fan than Canucks fan.

Is there really any point in turning a DiPietro thread into another "Luongo is amazing"... "No Luongo Sucks" argument?

There are a lot of different places to post that which are a little more on topic.

I think if Dipetro hadn't gotten those injuries, he could have been a pretty good deal at a 4.5M cap hit.

Can't believe how many brutal mistakes have been made to my favourite franchise. Always wanted Dipietro to work out, but always knew he wouldn't when his injuries took over. Due to cap reasons, they probably won't buy him out. Hopefully things will somehow turn around for them when they move to Brooklyn.

i feel very sorry for him - yes he is going to make money, but at the end of the day, he doesnt get to do what he loves...play hockey

if he wasnt so injured, that contract would have looked genius

Trying to work through the "what if Milbury were never there" starting line-up...

Nash/Gaborik - Spezza - Bertuzzi/Jokinen

Chara - McCabe

Luongo

VS.

Parish - Yashin - Kvasha/Linden

? - ?

DiPietro

Looks like you're the one who's trying to spin things. Luongo bringing us to game seven is a fact not a spin. Now putting the entire blame on him for the meltdown and not on anyone else on the 'team'. Well that's the biggest spin going on here to me.

Lol DiPietro will be the albatross around that franchise's neck until he ends his career. No one is going to take him. I feel bad for the guy...

This is the ridiculous contract that MG should have taken note of before signing Luongo to his absurdly large contract, IMO. This is an example of what happens when a player signs a massive deal and quite frankly busts, injuries notwithstanding.

I remember turning to my Dad and saying how Lu could end up like Dipietro and he was like "no because we're saving money"

I'd say the contract didn't pan out for us
