KingAlex
Remember when Trevor Linden was on Hockey Night In Canada? Remember when he singled out Thornton as a player the Canucks would like to build around? Yesterday it was confirmed he wouldn't be back in a Bruins sweater. Here our some interesting words that Thornton stated about the possibility of coming to Vancouver. “I love Mr. Benning, him and his whole family,” Thornton told News1130 in Vancouver Tuesday. “If he gives me a shout, I will be more than happy to talk to him.” With Linden's reference to Thornton, the words he said on News1130 and the fact that he will be available come July 1st. Would you like to see Thornton in a Canucks jersey? http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/shawn-thornton-open-to-joining-toronto-maple-leafs-vancouver-canucks/
NEON.KNEE
Yes We need players, and he is an NHL player.
TOMapleLaughs
Yes please! He'll challenge Sestito for the healthy scratch position while earning twice as much money on a deal that takes him to 40.
Xbox
Winning a fight without Bieksa would be a nice change of pace.
Devoted
Not particularly interested in him. He'll be 37 by the start of next season and has seen his (modest) production drop down to single digits. Better options out there for mentoring bottom 6 forwards
Gerbera
Definitely fits the mould of a tougher Bottom 6 with him on the Canucks. I just don't know is he an effective player without his linemates on the Boston 4th line though.

RonMexico
This means about as much as the 'rumour' that Marc Crawford is the next Van coach because he wants to be an NHL coach again. Stop reading so much into meaningless comments.
Nuxfanabroad
Lots of mileage there. He also loses his favoured-Bruin status. Not so enthusiastic about this. With concussion-lawsuits starting to roll, hopefully this league starts to emphasize skill & discipline. League-min for a yr or two, but it ain't a hope from me on this one. Neversummer
No ... don't want dyck squirting players on the ice. CLASSLESS ... don't even think of signing that vermin unless it's to drive the Zamboni.
aGENT
We can fill that role with someone both younger and likely cheaper. The Bruins are moving on for a reason....just saying.
puckdontlie
Low risk gamble... I'd go for it. If it doesn't work out, just trade him or cut him later.
Carl's Jn
only if he wants and is willing to hit everything that moves that isn't a canuck jersey!
Warhippy
I just want to know exactly how the Benning connection makes his signing in Vancouver a strong possibility....

CRAZY_4_NAZZY
Feelings aside he would be the exact thing we would want in the bottom six. However his age is the biggest factor. We talk about wanting to be bigger, faster and stronger in the bottom 6 with more younger players, adding Thornton would be a step backwards for us in that area. RunningWild
As the saying goes, "just say no". Horrible advanced stats,, old, a bigggggg no thanks. Canucks need a 4th line who can play in the playoffs.
BCNeil
So a guy that isn't being resigned with his current club, is asked if he would like to sign elsewhere.Naturally he says of course.Suddenly that translates into "strong possibility"
sharnhayre
Thornton is obviously going to have nothing but kind words to say knowing that his options are very limited and he will need to almost take whatever he gets. His age is the biggest red flag for me.. 2 years ago I would say lets do it but not now.
