Tre Mac
He can't play in the play-in series right? Why would that contract start now?

I find this - "We are thrilled to officially sign and welcome Kirill to our organization," said Guerin. "He has exceeded all expectations in his development since he was drafted in 2015. Kirill is a smart and dynamic forward that has led the KHL in goals each of the past two seasons and we look forward to having him on our roster when next season starts." I hope so :D

However, he can meet and skate with the team — the benefit here is it prepares him sooner for North American hockey. 1

As the tweet says Kaprisov Countdown = 0. They've been waiting so long to get him in the fold. With next season starting so late he could have extended another year in the KHL and joined mid-season only. They want him on the opening night roster for next season and not have to wait again. They traded Zucker to create that spot for him. Can't play but allows him to practice and be around the team and get to know his new teammates.

Coconuts
He's definitely got skill and KHL numbers to back it up, the Wild need him to work out something fierce.

Provost
2 hours ago, Tre Mac said: He can't play in the play-in series right? Why would that contract start now? On his side because he gets to burn off a contract year and get into his 2nd contract earlier. On the team side, they now have him locked up rather than have him sign in the KHL again.

Your life quality goes down. You are the Mayor of Rightville. While some others are flat out Wrong wrong wrong wrong, wrong wrong wrong wrong. Whole heartedly agree that the media in this city is beyond toxic but some dump on the team because they hold resentment and loyalty’s of the previous management. Sounds like a conflict of integrity of journalism, wish you could revoke ones media pass/privileges for that. Would sure piss off a bunch of parasites in this market, and keep our own players content and not pissed with the media.

mll
Kaprisov is a legit Calder candidate for next season. He would have normally signed a max ELC - 925K base + 2.85M in performance bonus. By signing this year his performance bonus is limited to 925K because of the variability rule - 850K in schedule A and only 75K in schedule B. If he wins the Calder he gets 75K vs 2M had his contract started next season only (or had the league not changed the rules for this season). mll
So they burn a year and might not even be able to bring them over. Sorokin and Romanov in the same situation.
mll
This is ridiculous. The NHL has those teams burn a year and by not allowing them to play they can't get a P1 visa from the US government to come over and join the team as they aren't playing. Affects Sorokin with NYI too. Tourist visa on his own means 14 days of strict quarantine where he can't even leave his hotel room for meals and has to have everything delivered. D-Money
Kaprisov not being able to play the play-in series is huge for the Canucks. He could have really made a difference for Minnesota. The Wild are a much better defensive team than Vancouver, but lacked the kind of game-breaking forward talent that could keep up with Pettersson, Miller, Horvat, and Boeser. Kaprisov might be just that type of player.
