I see this version of the Canucks like last year's Toronto Blue Jays - a lot of offensive potential (potentially top six in league for top 9 ability to score...and certainly best in the Pacific by quite a margin) but keeping pucks out will be interesting.   Demko plays like he can they will be more than fine and most certainly able to keep pace in the weak division they are in.    If they get on a role with their style they can play with anyone and I don't think people yet realize how crazy good their summer pick ups will be....OEL just needs to be what he can be not what he was at his best but the rest are waaaaay better than people realize.    This is a sleeper team.   Cheers SJ!

LOL - love the inventive nature of some poster's interpretations of reality.    Vancouver has always been one of the favourite destinations for many NHL players.    Polls of players consistently show it is a location they would love to play and live in.   The only thing that players don't like about Vancouver is the high taxation rates (Canada in general but BC has historically not been as good as, say, Alberta).    The Vancouver CAP situation is more common in NHL than not but their young talent pool is upper tier and their long-term contract commitments that anyone could say is "not ideal" is done after this or next season when all that youth will be nicely emerging.

Very high on Demko and intrigued by Holtby with Clark.   I am still not sure there is enough minor league depth though.   LD was a loss in my opinion.   I can see the overall SV% and GAA being as good as better though given how vastly improved the D corps is.    Hard to believe Canucks got two top four Dmen for a sum total of a third round pick.

Not an upset, the better team won.

Born in Ontario Joe so it has some "home" ties.   I like upstate NY and BC a LOT.    I have never had trouble with communication other than in the US and increasingly so in Ontario - all these people who are entitled and speaking a language I don't understand about what life owes them.    Outside of that, people have put up with me no matter what language I am butchering at any given time.   I am up to about 8 languages I can equally butcher.  

I divide my life into hockey and post-hockey.    Entirely different pace of play and responsibilities.   Didn't have to "adult" until I was well into my 30's ...and it shows.   

There was a bit of buzz then like there has been for various German players but what I am seeing now is a strong link with NO home-country bias.    That is what I am finding amazing.   Goc was the "man" back in the Ehrhoff days so Sharks sweaters were more common even when CE wasn't a Shark any longer.

Really depends if the guy you broke it on is still attached to the car and screaming.

Current crop?  None.   Remember, Kesler was a generational douche so it can be up to 20 years between having a douche of that level on your team.  Some teams have more at one time - it happens - but the odds are with such generational talent is that it shows up, on average, about once a generation.

Only good thing about being a goalie is no one expects you to go fast when skating.   To be honest, it isn't that hard skating if it is line drills, it sucks if they are circle drills.   I had one enlightened coach who would get players who head hunted in practice have to stand in net with back turned and we got to use player sticks and aim at their assets from the hash marks.  No wind ups but I had a decent wrist shot.......

Yup but that is quite a few  years back now.   Always find August hard as not "training" for a camp still seems weird.    I do miss the "team" stuff for sure.   I don't miss bag skates, stairs, buses, idiots who cannot keep a puck on the ice in warmups or practice, stick technology that has taken every player and turn them into Ovie, wet pads, constant bruises, etc etc.    There, on balance I guess the change hasn't been too bad!

As a junior, he won both the forward and backward competitions with relative ease.   I think if there are "corners' McD can edge better but if a flat out race, Jake would be right there forwards and likely blow him away backwards.

Some people's lives are so empty they have to resort to such trolling.   Feel sadness and pity for them....but realize you and others like you (I include myself) are part of their pain as they simply cannot stand reasoned arguments/discussion that points to a narrative they are not aligned with.   They are not "disgusting" people, they are people to be pitied.   

@Gally -  Good point, no way anyone would want to trade for EP40, Horvat, Hughes, Virtanen,  OJ, Boeser, Miller, Ferland, Stecher, Myers, Benn, Pearson, Demko, Marky, Woo, Gaudette.....the list goes on.   Not a single tradeable asset there of these folks.   Have to admit he started with the dead wood piece of Marky but all the other untradeable assets above are on him.   What a brutal situation.   

Pro hunting and fishing for food.    So anti trophy hunting I get about as angry at another human on this topic than most anything else.

@HerrDrFunk, yup, that is what I see as well.   Added to that in the West I can see Dallas perhaps being improved but everyone else....meh at best so far.   Rangers and Panthers seems to be two teams that have improved more than most but Vancouver not being that top four or five teams across the league in terms of year-on-year improvement is ignoring what has happened.

Arran is nice.   More illegal in terms of voting but contrast it with Kilkerran 12 year old sometime.   A great way to miss a weekend.
