Welp, West Kelowna and now Kelowna are on fire.
The pictures and videos on Castanet are wild...
West Kelowna happened early today, or yesterday and spread like crazy. It has now JUMPED the lake into Kelowna, with people evacuating with zero notice.

Nobody in Toronto wants to lose Matthews, but opening up so much more team depth from one of four very skilled forwards (likely with the best return) seems like something to take advantage of, if possible.
I never want to predict the Leafs to win, but with a big return for Matthews while addressing goaltending, they could be a true powerhouse, IMO.

Just chatted with Ken Hitchcock about the player contract/bonus issues currently going on...apparently he's renting a place in West Kelowna for the summer.

next collective agreement will take care of this issue
maybe it will place a cap on what % of a contract
can be allocated to bonuses
or create some other mechanism to put a drag on them
like maybe not allowing variance in annual amounts in a contract that contains bonuses (so player has to choose between a big bump at the start of a contract or a bonus structure, but not both)

Marchand is just adapting. The league was cracking down on his attempts to accutely injure opposing players. Now he is going for a long term approach, giving others hepatitis while making it difficult for the league to pin point the actual source (to others) months down the road.

Pierre McGuire is saying on 1040 that Gillis and Burke were talking most of the flight, and later for dinner, on the way to the draft.
I dunno, I just can't get emotional about Boston winning or losing. I was much more invested in Toronto getting the boot.
