  1. Need your help CDC... if my passport expires June 12th 2018, Can i travel to the US May 1st to 4th?

This link says you need 6 months extra until it expires, but then has Canada as the list of exempt countries? So I should be ok with Canadian passport?

Last summer I traveled to the US in mid-July with my passport expiring the first week of August. All they did was send me over to another desk to have it personally reviewed and handwritten in my passport when I intended to return to Canada. :)

Usually it will be up to some fool border guard to determine whether you can enter,if he or she has had a bad day ,who knows.

I have heard of people being refused flights because their passport was not up to date, over booking excuse mostly.Be careful down there.

I’ve heard of people being denied if it’s less than 4 months from expiration date.

Like others have said your kinda putting your fate in some ones else’s hands if the say no it’s no.

  2. The nhl is a corrupt garbage league. Zero integrity, biased officiating... Straight up disgusting.

Apollo, you're the parent whose kids can do no wrong. You have demonstrated a pattern of irrationality in the last few years and have gone to enormous lengths to blindly defended certain players/ the team as a whole on numerous occasions. It's impossible to take you seriously. It's great you're an optimist and loyal fan, but when you post tired and outlandish statements constantly (such as the one you started with here) you're going to get called out from time to time. I will always stand by the canucks win or lose, but we haven't been that likable a team this year. Our PP has been dreadful since the 2011 playoffs, and no coach/player seems to have done anything to fix it. We still come at teams with the same 'all eggs in one basket' strategy. Our problems aren't the refs, our problems have been the same as they've always been. Not scoring more goals than we let in. Choking under pressure...etc

The nhl has brain washed you well.

  3. We should offer Brock an 8 year deal ASAP. Close the deal before the year starts. Do you think he would accept 8 years 6.5 AAV? Front load it as much as possible for him.

He'll be worth north of 9 mill if he keeps up last years pace.

With modified 5 team list NTC. Give him whatever he wants. Just sign him for 8 years.

I'm predicting 100 points each for Brock, Bo and Pettersson.

  4. We're getting healthy... time to rack up some wins. Can we pull out a huge 8-2 record in our next 10 games? Back in a playoff spot come Christmas Break?!

This could be a huge December to remember if they could pull it off. This team really reminds me of the 2002 Canucks... who had a big December that year to propel them into the playoffs... would have gone all the way had they had Luongo in net...

    :towel:

(edit nevermind after checking... the 2002 Canucks did not have a good December that season... lol)

    1. Alflives

      Alflives

I think, when healthy, we are a playoff team - providing our goalies play equal to the opponents.  Do we want to just be a playoff team, and lose in round one though?  Maybe we need another top five pick?  Hell the top pick, Jack Hughes, would look pretty good.

    2. BlastPast

      BlastPast

I feel like it's a long shot to make the playoffs at this point.  Before the games vs LA I thought it would take 13 points over the next 10 games to get back into the conversation , since then they've managed 3 in 4 so now it's 10 in 6.   I think they do pick it up over the balance of the season but fall short , finishing around .500 .

Looking at the schedule, I'll consider it a good run if they go 5 - 5 leading into Christmas.

  5. What do you guys think will end up being the more iconic event in

    Return of the Jedi

    or

    Return of Roy Baby

**FYI If you haven't heard... the man... the myth... the legend... Roy Baby AKA Derek Roy has made team Canada for the Olympics. Crosby on the other hand didn't... so you know what that means. He's probably better than him.

***Further FYI Roy Baby is probably the subjects of one of the top 5 threads of all time (CDC). If anyone can dig it up for some old time laughs, I'd love you long time. I've done a search and can't find it.

  7. As I pray for the planet during this pandemic, I can truly say that I've never been more proud to call myself a Canadian. I truly believe Canada is the best place on earth and this pandemic has further proven it.

I hope we can all stay positive during this time and count our blessings. There are countless countries in far worse situations than us. Trudeau and our government have really had our backs through these times. They aren't finished yet. There's more measures coming to help Canadians all across the country.

I look around the world... I see USA... Spain... Italy... England... Iran... China... the list goes on... of countries struggling far more than we are.

Stay home, Stay safe, Stay Positive. We will be stronger than ever once we get through this.

Thank you Justin for taking care of Canada's most vulnerable during these harsh times.

@Heretic I've never voted for Liberals and I didn't vote for Trudeau. It doesn't matter what party you support... you just look at how his government has responded and you can't help but applaud.

For the record I still wont for liberals next election, but Justin and co have handled this incredibly well.

Canada is the greatest country on earth.

  9. Feeling kinda down this Friday morning... can someone tell me a good feel story? :bigblush:

  10. Home phone alternatives... any suggestions? Thought I'd ask the wonderful people of CDC :P

I'm currently with Telus and seems like I'm getting fleeced by them every month...

I've heard of magic jack but just wondering if there's anything better out there? I need it to be clear, I use it %100 for work ... my cell is separate.

Also my cell doesn't get good reception in my office area (apartment)... hence the need for the landline to do work calls all day (if someone has a fix for this as well that would be great)

Shaw has a pretty good promo. I'm glad they came into the cell market too... More competition is always better for the consumer...

Sadly I really can't use a cell phone, no matter what network, Roger's, fido, freedom, telus, or iPhone or androids Ive tested in my apartment have terrible service. It has to be a stable line since I use for work...

I was hoping there's some USB device u plug into the home phone outlet or something that makes it smart and compatible with my laptop

    3. Aladeen

      Aladeen

Shaw has wifi calling like I said so it is as stable as your wifi is stable and is as strong of a signal as your signal is to your wifi router. You could have no cell service but wifi calling allows you to make calls and send texts.

    4. goalie13

      goalie13

Call Telus, tell them what Shaw is offering, see if they will give you a better deal.  Insist on speaking to the loyalty department.

  11. I wouldn't mind if we didn't assign a captain until later on in the regular season. Let the boys have some extra to play for.

I think it's inevitable that Bo becomes captain, but I think even he will be playing a little harder to prove he deserves the captaincy. As will other guys. We need to have a strong start if we're to be a playoff team.

  12. Marc Crawford has at least 1 cup ring in Van if he had any one of these guys as his goalie...Demmer, Holtby, Miller, Marky, Louolongo

Burky never really gave him a shot by not addressing goaltending IMO... he got as much out of our roster as he could

Wasn't just the goalie, they needed depth on both forwards and defence.

That kind of happens when you trade away your picks.

I admire Burke for getting the Sedins. And will always be grateful for that.

Dan Cloutier would've made Marchand eat meals with a straw if he was in net and saw what the rat was doing.  Granted, with Cloutier in net, we wouldn't have advanced to the Finals.:P

    4. apollo

      apollo

@Ghostsof1915 in Burkie's defense the salary cap wasn't there for his canucks career and during that time we had cheap ownership. If we had deep pocket aquilinis Burky woulda plugged all those holes via UFA... we just had no budget.

in 2002 Burky had half the player budget from his ownership than detroit... it's a miracle what that team did... put in Demmer / Miller or any of the other mentioned goalies and that team comes home for game 3 and locks it down and sweeps Detroit by game 4.

Detroit only won cuz they spent 70 mill and we were at 30 mill (my numbers might be off a little but they spent about double)

  13. Sbisa was at Sven's wedding... seems like he has a great friendship with B Sutta and future captain Bo. I really think it's important to build a locker room that are friends and will fight for one another. Get Luca a contract and get him back on our squad. We can trade another D-man.
