I"d say this is solely dependent on where you're staying. WIthin metro vancouver, richmond, burnaby, I've never had coverage problems with Freedom EXCEPT when going underground. Reconnecting after losing coverage also sometimes needs to be done manually by making your phone search for the network rather than it re-finding the network automatically, but his is a couple seconds of inconvenience.
From Rogers, Bell, or Telus, you'll definitely be paying more for the same features that Freedom will give you, but it may be more reliable for the higher cost.
It comes down to where you're living, what you're expecting, and your budget.
