They need a shakeup to wake up Ovechkin and the team. Strip Ovechkin of the C and give it to Brooks Laich in the off-season. Right now the options are through trade.

Ovechkin needs to focus on working hard he has become lazy. When the captain slacks off it sets a bad example to the team. Laich is Dale Hunter's kind of guy.

Doubt the Caps have the balls to take the C from Ovechkin though.

Another reason i want them to stay together a bit longer is because I think Tanev can become even better working with Hammer. I know everyone goes on and on about Bieska being our best D and I am not picking on him, I do like him, but I think Hammer really is the better of the two and doesn't always get the credit he deserves.

They both could be a very good shutdown group or I would like to see Tanev with Edler and Bieska and hammer the shutdown pair

it is a long hard road to the playoffs and we need more depth, I know that sounds crazy but we have been brutalized by injuries late in the season a few years in a row now
