mikeburn
A tired Canucks team missing half their players, against an Oiler's team with pretty much their full team. Please...Someone make a big deal about this Edit: Besides the last 4 minuets or so, I thought we played really well. Santorelli and Weber really impressive
In the Slot
Not a bad game, impressed by Lack's play. One thing I noticed from Kassian is that his play is much better when he is one of the drivers of the line. I don't think he should be on the first line with the Sedins as then, he will be no more than a passenger.
longsuffering
IMO Kassian again showed that he brings nothing extra to this team. He seems totally lost out there. Most of the time out of position. Easily pushed awy from the play even when he gets there. He is not a top 6 player for sure.
Kyosama
As a Jets fan seeing how you guys think about Santorelli, I think you guys are going to be very, very pleasantly surprised by what you have there. Would have taken him back on the Jets in a second.

Plum
Huh? How do you figure the Canucks had the disadvantage of being "tired". Neither team has played since Wednesday, and of the Oilers iced tonight 9 played both Wednesday and tonight, while only 8 Canucks played both Wednesday and tonight. Don't see the Canucks having the "tired" card to play? Also, it's not as if the Oilers iced a full NHL team while the Canucks iced mostly prospects and rookies. Oilers had 6 players with 0 NHL games and 8 that haven't played at least 82 games, while the Canucks had only 4 players with 0 NHL games and 9 with less than a full season under the belt. Meaning it wasn't the number of vets/proven players versus number of prospects/rookies. It was the quality of the players iced. Yeah, only pre-season and not worth making a big deal of, but at least let's look at the real picture. Canucks lost back-to-back games versus Edmonton fair and square, period. Oh well. Lui's Knob
Problem is Canucks have little skill. Haven't had any real support for Sedins ever...
people please
So I guess the Canucks NHL roster would fare better? Last time they played againts each other in the regular season Canucks lost 7-
Petey Castiglione
Yeah, you're absolutely correct! However, do not be discuraged. Mike Gillis will come to the rescue. I've heard from sources (that I cannot name) that Gillis will unveil almost a completely different team from what we saw tonight, in time for the start of the upcoming season. regards, G. fanfor42
Time for Torts to now start playing the regulars and allowing them to get comfortable with his system. It's a change and needs time. We've seen the kids now. Let's get focused on being ready for the beginning of the regular season. If not, it's a mistake by the coach that could cost us a slow start. MikeyD
Anybody else remember we had already locked up a playoff spot when we played the Oilers at the tail end of last year? I do.
Tangelos
My lineup after tonight: Sedin - Sedin - Kassian (give him a little shot with the twins, short leash) Burrows - Kesler - Booth Hansen - Schroeder - Higgins Shinkaruk - Richardson - Santorelli Hamhuis - Bieksa Edler - Tanev Garrison - Weber Alberts Corrado Luongo Lack
Tangelos
Gaunce even though he's a turtle, is way ahead of Shinkaruk and every other young player. Shink has great skill, no doubt but just isn't ready. Skill and heart is there, but conditioning and physical stature isn't there, and he's a defensive liability. Angry Goose
Tanev and Edler were an effective pairing. Tanev looks noticably faster on his skates and Edler was making difficult of outlet passes and defensive plays look easy. Guance isn't NHL ready. His slow footspeed was made obvious when Hemsky blew right by him for a good scoring chance. WOuld rather see the kid develop and become stronger than see him get burned regularly in the NHL. Kassian was good and bad. Good in that he showed he has skilled hands but bad because we expect him to be a tough guy to take the puck away from. Give the kid time I think. Like Hansen he will just keep getting better.
Angry Goose
Oh and I think Shinkaruk is oh so close to being NHL ready. But because he is still slight of frame Id hate to see him get hurt.
