Fill the lineup next year

this team needs so much now. realistically three top six forwards. i like higgins and hansen kassian but they are not top 6 guys. the only proven guys are kes dan hank and bur (if he can regain some form dan and bur). there isn't a single guy in the system thats a PROVEN top six jensen is going good right now but who knows if that will translate to the nhl. same goes for any of the prospects who will more than likely get a year with AHL club. total lack of finish and skill on this current club

gillis/ aquallini has filled this team with mediocre 3rd liners and over spent on average d men. tough times ahead.

glad they didn't trade kes for another third liner in sutter, that would have been terrible.

Sedins Kass

Higg Stasney Kesler

Gaunce Matthias Burr

Booth Lain Hansen

No need to rush Bo Ho, Jensen is finally improving, Shink had a set back. Imo Stas is the perfect fit for Kes. Matthias Gaunce Burr is going to drive teams Mad. Booth wont be bought out or he would have been already. This is a big fast and much younger team.

So since the Devils are now picking 30th, if they get any lower than the Nucks in the standings, Van's spot will jump 1. Happy for that. Want someone in the top 10 for the draft this season.

The Devils originally didn't have a pick. So this is not news.

The Canucks will have some extra cap space but not as much as people think.

The Luongo trade only frees up aproximately 1.5 million in cap space. mathias + marks tom = 3million + 800k in retained salary

The cap is going up but the Canucks will be giving a lot of raises sounds wrong giving how they've been performing.

Sedins, Hansen, Kassian, Tanev, Lack and possibly Shroeder

the sedins and Hansen is 3 million alone +aprox. about 2.5 million for the others

obviously the sedan contact looks horrible now and 4 more years too the sharks gave thornton and marleau less per year and only for 3 years horrible contract yet another reason to fire MG

I also think Hansen should have been moved to free up 2.5 million in cap to bring in some scoring.

anyways my lineup would be

seeing as were stuck with the twins and burr let's hope they can bounce back at least a little

Sedins Burrows

Santo Schenn(kesler trade) Vanek

Higgins Horvat Kassian

Sestito Richardson Mathias

same D hopefully minus Edler

Lack

Markstrom

One great thing though is wee only have 2.4 million tied up in cap space 3.2 if you include Luongo so hopefully that can be used for goal scorring like Vanek or someone high end because we need scoring badly

Sedin- Sedin - Burr

Kassian - Stephan - Cammalleri

Goc - Horvat - Higgins

Hansen - Richards - J.T. Miller

Tostito

Hammer- Tanev

Edler- Corrado

Garrison - Bieksa

Stanton

Trades:

TO NYR-

Kesler

To VAN

Stephan, JT Miller, 1st rounder 2014 (this was apparently the actual offer)

UFAs:

Sign Cammalleri, Goc, Halak

Lack

Halak

This is a Cup winning line up, IMO. All players with strong underlying #'s, meaning they'll be a top 3 puck possession team.

Jensen can be 1st call up when players gets injured.

I don't think this team needs a rebuild, but they need to get full value for Kesler. That means he's gonna have to expand his list of teams. They also have to fire Torterella - he's not the coach for this team (or any team IMO).

Mike Gillis is going to show us all he is a master GM and pull off some of the biggest trades the NHL has ever seen!

Here's my projected line up based on what I think Gillis can get done:

Ovechkin - Crosby - Stamkos

P. Kane - Toews - Tavares

Duchene - Malkin - Bergeron

Lucic - Getzlaf - Perry

Doughty - Weber

Kieth - Karlsson

Hedman - Subban

Price

Quick

He'd then trade them all for 2nd and 3rd round draft picks

It just hate to bother me that you guys are pencilling in Higgins and Hansen for the fourth line... like literally ANY line-up

they are premier third line players with excellent two way ability.

just forced to play out of position in the top 9 roles.

Say there is no Kesler deal to be made, i'd go with this lineup.

Buyout: Booth

Free agency: Santorelli - he was a good story this year but nothing more than a bottom 6 forward on a contending team.

Trades: Burrows + Richardson at the draft for draft picks.

Free Agent Signing: Thomas Vanek or Gaborik

D.Sedin - H.Sedin - N.Jensen

H.Shinkaruk - R.Kesler - T.Vanek

C.Higgins - B.Horvat - Z.Kassian

T.Sestito - S.Matthias - J.Hansen

D.Hamhuis - J.Garrison

K.Bieksa - A.Edler

R.Stanton - C.Tanev

E.Lack

J.Markstrom

  • 1 month later...

Booth-Kesler-Jensen

Matthias-Santorelli-Kassian

Higgins-Horvat-Burrows

Archibald/Lain-Richardson-Hansen

Schroeder/Grenier as call-ups

Hamhuis-Garrison/Edler (whoever doesn't get traded/bought out)

Bieksa-Tanev

Stanton-Corrado/Weber

This lineup has the perfect amount of speed, skill, and grit.

Kesler -captain. Needs to be the guy we build around (passionate, hard-working, skilled)

Booth - love his speed and he has shown some toughness this year (believe he leads team in hits). Might live up to expectations with more ice time on first line and 2 talented linemates

Jensen - give him a full year on the first line to show his stuff

Horvat- let him run with third line duties where he can showcase both his defensive and offensive abilities. Would sure be a great third line with Higgy and Burr. All 3 are great 2-way forwards and the 2 vets would be great mentors for Horvat.

Hansen- a must keep for a retool built that needs to be built on speed, hard work and 2-way play. drop him back down to the fourth line. This is where he is best suited. Give him more specialty team minutes where he thrives.

Corrado- time for a full NHL season to see what he's really made of

Trade Sestito. Useless goon who gets the team in trouble with stupid penalties. Lain or Archibald can do the fighting next year along with Juice who always loves to go at it.

Keep Weber as 7th D. He's young, speedy, and skilled and can plug in on the PP every once in a while.

Give Fox, Gaunce, Shinkaruk a full year in Utica to develop and use Schroeder and Grenier as call-ups. Give Shroeder some top minutes in Utica to start the year to get his confidence back and refine his skills. Tricky to fit him into the Canucks lineup full-time due to an abundance of Centers but still a good skilled depth player to have.
