WesttCoastXpress
So I never heard of Vladimir Tkachev until just recently but ever since he arrived in Moncton, he has been playing lights out along side Ivan Barbashev. Downside is his small stature but his speed and skill is amazing... reminds me of ehlers with his handles and elusiveness, except we don't have to risk taking a smaller guy with the 6th pick. Moncton's coach Rambler feels Tkachev is a strong two-way player despite his small size. Anyways, CS has him listed at 60th (european skaters).... interesting bit is that he is listed at 5'9' and 145 (163 by eliteprospects) !!!! I don't know whether this is updated or not. Here are a few clips of him I just watched on youtube. Regular season with Moncton - 20gp-10g-20a-30pts Post season - 6gp-7g-2a-9pts Pretty solid stats for a new comer to North American Junior hockey. So what does everyone think. Take a gamble on VK with a later pick!! Get er done GMJB. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VseBcZLAqpU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uOUFXosRBK0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5T1Y37QFCw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xg9mwU9Xlgg
kassian 09
That size he would get destroyed in the west. Hope he proves me wrong.
WesttCoastXpress
Edit: Eliteprospects has him listed at 5'9 163. Still quite small but he could be an interesting project.

Rick Grimes
No. I'm tired of small players in the Canucks organization. 6'1 180+ or Hit the damn gym.
Junkyard Dog
No. I'm tired of small players in the Canucks organization. 6'1 180+ or Hit the damn gym. We barely have any small players. This guy is way too small though.
Plum
We can make safer picks with the same amount of ceiling in all the rounds.
WesttCoastXpress
We can make safer picks with the same amount of ceiling in all the rounds. This guy can be a low risk, high reward move. I don't see why taking him in the 5th (doubt he will be available then) would hurt. He's committed to Moncton next year again along side Barbashev and they have unreal chemistry which will also help in his development. Dude registered 1.5 ppg in his first year in the ohl. WeddingCrashers
I'm just not sure we can afford that kind of gamble on his size in the top three rounds! However fourth round or later I'd be happy with the pick.
Ossi Vaananen
I noticed his Oct 95 birthday, he'd only have to do one more season of junior before he could go pro. That bodes well for Russian players who aren't always known for their patience. Take him with a late pick, and if he's anything like he was in the Subway Series, he's going to be an offensive star. TheRussianRocket.
Yep, keep a close eye on him. My good friend in Moncton has been praising him all year round and has said he knows how to put the puck in the net.

Warhippy
I still think Mattsson will be the steal of this draft afte the 1st round. That kid has potential all over him
Ghostsof1915
Moncton Wildcat's website lists him at 5'8" 163 lbs. I'd like to know why he played only 20 games? Injury? If he's around for the 6th or 7th round sure thing. Dane Fox who's 6' and 185 lbs, went undrafted, despite scoring 36 points in 37 games. Matt Fraser who's 6'2" and 207 lbs also wen't undrafted. He played way more than 20 games, if you're using HockeyDB they usually ignore 2nd tier European teams. Here are his stats from eliteprospects: http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=211956 He played 2 games at the KHL level and went over a ppg in the MHL (the AHL of the KHL). Pretty impressive. Sometime after the Subway Series he decide to stay in NA and finished the season with Moncton.

I could be wrong though.

JE14
I thought he came over to NA after getting snubbed for a spot on the WJC roster? I could be wrong though. Correct. He didn't really like the fact that he got snubbed (he deserved at minimum an invite) and I think that was the final straw in him coming here. He looked at Sergey Tolchinsky and realized that even if he is small, that if he is in North America it greatly increases his chance of landing a NHL contract. I'd take him fourth round but I have a feeling a team will take him in the third (Washington or Detroit). He was the best player for Russia during the SSS and his skills are downright nasty.
