If he is signed now but cant play  till next year would his cap be applied to this or next year?

I don't think we will sign him until we know the following;

- Who we will lose in the expansion draft

- How much it will take to resign Elder

- How much it is going to cost to resign Demko, because I think that number has changed dramatically since the start of March.

I think there's an assumption among fans, that Hughes and Pettersson will sign bridge deals around the 7.5 million range.

I still have concerns about him being “all in” in terms of doing what it will take to be the best NHL’er he can be....but if he has indeed grown as a person with less entitlement than some think he displayed in his last go round here....get the big man over here Jimbo.

Still in the camp of “I’ll believe it when I see it” though.

He’ll be a very solid addition to the back line. I could see him paired with Hughes as a really nice fit. One balances out ther other - offensive small guy and defensive-minded massive guy. Plus I think having Podkolzin on the team next year will make Tryamkin feel even more comfortable, having another Russian to chat with. I really do see next year as our year - where it all comes together, and we’ll get a proper training camp and enough games in the regular season to get adjusted to the new faces.

Pretty sure we can sign him now, contract wouldn’t start until summer though

Because we missed the rfa signing deadline we cannot sign until July 1st, or whenever FA opens

If we sign him now he would most likely be the one chosen in the expansion draft, if we don't resign him it's very likely he resigns with a KHL team. what to do?

Except he wouldn’t because his contract cannot start until after the draft

Is it a case of cannot sign till that date, or contract cannot start till that date. I thought it was the latter.

Not fully sure how that works, probably the latter. But unless Auto releases him he is still under contract until end of March or April, don't remember

If this is true then what can Benning do? If he's not signed now then Benning dropped the ball. If Benning signs him and we loose Nikita to Seattle , again he dropped the ball. Is Tryamkin able to sign with any other NHL team? Is he a  Canucks prospect still? I am 1 who would really love to see him in a Canucks jersey. I also believe Benning would really like to see Nikita here also. He offers us exactly what Van needs at the moment especially now with Quinn's insurgence and OJ next year. I honestly think (pray) there is a deal already done with Tryamkin and he's wearing a Orca In training camp next season.

I’m confident room will be made for Tryamkin to play and perform with us,.  In what I hope is a full regular season of NHL Hockey.

He was a 3rd rnd pick,.  Some here say I have high expectations of him,.  As a 3rd rnd pick, yes, I have above average expectations that I’m sure he will meet.

After  1 more full season of NHL hockey,  I see Tryamkin as a top 2 pairing D man.

top 4 play,.  PK solid..

and if used as a specialist in overtime..

this...

Nothing wrong with high expectations. From the time he was drafted, I saw Tryamkin as a top pair/#2 ceiling, depth/spare floor NHL Dman. When he played here, he performed at a #4 level on a bad team, although his usage was closer to that of a 5/6. He’s matured since then and honed his game, so I see no reason why he wouldn’t have at least a 5/6 floor now, possibly top-4, on a bubble/middle level team like the Canucks, and still the potential to play as high as a #2 role, with the right partner, and in the right overall team situation.

There are hi lights of him winding up and launching out of his own end somewhere..  he is an excellent skater..  and 260 at that speed is not something guys want to get in front of...

this is where the deep drop pass to him at full speed on a pp and in OT would work.

Specialty assignments can win you games, and take you beyond.

Tryamkin has nothing left to prove in the K. He's in no hurry to sign another KHL contract. His agent, Diamond knows there is a cap management issue according to his last interview and will wait in accordance to league policy, the real question for JB is how much? I think a short term contract will cost less money, but his upside after one or two good seasons will cost a lot more for a four or five year contract.

If I were jb I would plug for a 3 year deal
