St. Louis will stick with Brian Elliott and Jake Allen.

Why do the greats almost always elect to leave the game too late?

He might be given yet another shot, but why?

Because if you actually play a sport and are very passionate about it, well then it's hard to let it go.

A public leave of absence would be a strange note to go out on. But at the same time I don't want to see him just be a 5 game rental guy that hops around the League just for the sake of hitting 700 as remarkable as that number is. My guess is hes starting second guess that whole goal as well.

becasue they dont care about their career numbers or records or going out on top like their fans do.. they just love playing. almost all HOF players in all leagues couldve retired with better career numbers , but they love the game and want to keep playing..

Short answer, the same reason you sit on on your ass and do nothing all day.

I don't know, probably because the greats play for the love the game and that's why they play, not for the legacy.

For the money.

You honestly think he playing for the money? Well he's not ... obviously.
