dbutcher
noun "The definition of a body check is a hockey term for when one player uses the top half of their body to fairly block an opposing player who has the puck separate them from the puck" I'm not a stat guy, don't really know where to look up Canucks stats in regard to hitting. By my eyes, this team has forgotten how to body check? Last night almost every canuck was hit and checked off the puck by the Ducks. Perhaps we could emulate this game tactic and throw a few Body Checks Just sayin! Go Canucks Go,

TOMapleLaughs
Sedin-Sedin-Vrbata: No.Burrows-Vey-Higgins: Not anymore.Matthias-Bonino-Kassian: Now and then. Jensen-Horvat-Hansen: Now and then.Edler-Tanev: Rarely.Hamhuis-Corrado: Not anymore.Sbisa-Weber: Now and then. Banged-up currently, but wasn't the most balanced or playoff-ready lineup to begin with. We're a far cry from the halcyon days here. Change is coming. Let's just hope it's for the better.

Hairy Kneel
Oh the ol'grey mare♫♪♫ she ain't what she used to be.♫♪♫.. (I really don't expect Higgy,Burr and Hansen to hit anymore cause their shoulders aren't the same anymore) I think Bonino,Mathias,Sziba and Stanton can hit and Horvat doesn't hit but is a rock that's hard to move in the slot. This is what made Archibald or whoever from Utica so appealing to bring up was to add a physical game.

RonMexico
^^^ This doesn't prove anything. Tampa, Detroit, Nashville, Montreal, St Louis and Chicago are in the top 9 overall in the league standings yet in the bottom third of hitting. Tampa, Detroit, Nashville, Montreal, St Louis and Chicago are in the top 9 overall in the league standings yet in the bottom third of hitting. It's not so much regular season hit stats that matter, but having the guys around who can start hitting in the playoffs that counts. We don't have a lot of guys who can do that. Our top line, for starters, is the 'least likely to lay a big hit' top line in the NHL. Calgary's is right there though. That's fine if they have the puck all the time, but the mighty possession kings have been slipping in that regard too.
BanTSN
It's been awhile here, so maybe it's time for a little reminder of what the playoffs are like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Rs-XFa1ye8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h13-1WXlB6k And of course this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnKQSHAFSzI This was the Canucks at their cockiest. More power: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HsaJ7zU51fw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDdWgXLFJOM We only lost to the Bruins because they were less banged-up than us. We TRUCKED through the west. Literally. "But why oh why did we miss out on... David Pastrnak!?! pew! pew pew!" lul NHL Playoffs are a warrior's game. So you better be ready for war. If you're not, then stay the f out. I think anyone whose ever played hitting hockey can confirm this. There's nothing that feels as good as delivering a big hit, but there's nothing that feels as bad as receiving one but either way it's undeniable that it can affect the outcome of a game or series. In a 7-game war there's no doubt that hitting has a big effect.
Slegr
I miss all those hipchecks. They were so prevalent and infectious for a couple of years. I don't know if I've seen one thrown by a Canucks d-man all year. I vote for toughness. Even when we lose games, people still get their money worth watching the Canucks pulverize the other team. elvis15
Canucks are definitely not any where near leading hits. LA kings are almost double the hits Team Hit Statistics ... What's that, we have more hits than the Blackhawks? They must suck. And the Oilers have more hits than us? Must mean they're better. There's more to the game than hits, especially since the only time you can throw a hit is when you don't have the puck. I'd rather have the puck.
