Crimson-JH
Via Oilers ' message board, fans reactions: "Woohoo, Now how long until we ruin him." "Mcdavid looks like he's about to cry lol" "If MacT, Lowe and company screw this up they need to be fired. Out of a cannon. Into a brick wall." "Wow...mark April 18, 2015 as the date the Oiler really started the comeback! There's lots to do now that it's settled but what a rocket ride! And yes, the league will hate us (even more)....I can live with that. " "Anyone suggesting the Oilers will trade that pick are delusional, it is never going to happen, McDavid will" "I cannot believe that this just happened. Never been so ashamed and so happy all once. just wild to think about it" "Now what? Now macT give Babcock a call" http://fans.oilers.nhl.com/community/topic/16256-oilers-win-lottery/
Mackcanuck
Hey Calgary fans, How's it going so far? You lost last night, your coach got fined $50K and the only team you hate more than the Canucks, the Oilers won the draft Lottery for McDavid! And the worst thing about it, He probably hates it more than you do!!!
Realtor Rod
LOTS of US markets could assemble killer packages. Just tell them behind the scenes, he'd rather not be there. It's then in Edm's interest to garner 4 or 5 choice pieces... TBay CBJ Philly Ariz Buff Teams like this could offer amazing deals. That makes sense, MacT just said NO INTEREST in entertaining a trade for the first overall. McD will now be compared to the Great One in the Great Ones city. This is horrible for him. DownUndaCanuck
They are going to destroy his talent. Sure he may end up becoming a 60-70 point player, but if this kid got groomed correctly (ie. played another year not in the NHL, maybe in junior but more likely in the AHL) and then slowly worked his way up the NHL ranks from 4th liner to 1st liner over the course of about 2-3 years, he'd be a 100 point phenom easily. Instead the Oilers are literally going to make him their first line center overnight. If he's lucky he'll be their 2nd line center under RNH
Ghostsof1915
Edmonton can make some trades to improve their D. Sign Markstrom in the offseason. Keep McDavid in junior for his first year. Make sure his development isn't ruined. AHL year 2. NHL year 3. By that time they should hopefully improve defence and goaltending, and put him in a team that would compete. I was hoping he stays out of our division. regardless of the hype right now he is nothing more than another Hall RNH Yakupov or Eberle and they still need a proper defense which they do not have at all not even close and also goaltending however a good defense can negate the need for a good goalie
