Toews
he can't make the leafs. What does that say about his playing for us, even with the injuries?Do the Canucks have the depth to deal with injuries to tthe blue line? You take your glass half full approach way too far. If he was a minor league defenseman the Leafs would have waived him. Their reluctance to waive him speaks to their belief that he might be claimed. Salmonberries
The Leafs will have to eventually use him or lose him too though. So far he's yet to play a single game for them. If Babcock doesn't think he can use him he'll have to be exposed on waivers again sooner or later. Who knows, maybe we finally get him down to Utica after all. He should have been waiver exempt this year anyway, Gillis and Vigneault screwed that up.

If he does get put back on waivers, should we claim him back - even if that means losing another dman to waivers?

coryberg
maybe Pitts waives clendening soon. He has only played one game so far.the pens have a solid 6 and haven't had any injuries just yet. AC will get a chance to play sometimes soon. they cant afford to lose him on waivers seeing as their only legit NHL Dman on the farm is Pouliot. Besides all that i dont think he would slide to us even if he hit waivers. Edit: welcome to the boards BTW
MoneypuckOverlord
yup, looks like he's no longer of the active roster. They either play him, or just let him rot on the active roster. What a bunch of jokes, who the &^@# claims a player off waivers not to play on their team? the reason for waivers, is to give the player a chance to play in the NHL, if the player is no longer needed another team can claim him, example, Michael Grabner, claimed by the Islanders, and stayed with Kevin Caunnauton, claimed by Columbus and is playing fine right now, we all know, the true intentions were, which is they are just claiming players from their local area. What a bunch of clowns, not to mention last years mid season tank, when they were still in a playoff spot. Total tank for Mcdavid, end up with Marner, lol

Gaudette Celly
We don't have to drop anyone to claim Corrado, he can go straight down.

How can the NHL allow this to happen? Young guys need to play A LOT to develop. Leafs are really screwing with his future.
DownUndaCanuck
I just want to say that just because the Leafs aren't playing Corrado, it doesn't mean that he's a bad defenceman. That team is pathetic, their management have some serious issues and to trust their judgement over what you've seen yourself is a mistake. The Toronto defensive system is atrocious and if he's not fitting in there, it's not necessarily because he's a bad player. Use your own judgement, correlation doesn't necessarily mean causation.Watching Corrado play for the Canucks, you knew what you were getting out of him. He was a fantastic bottom pairing, tough shutdown defenceman. He wasn't going to put up many points but he was a real battler in front of the net, in the corners and could move the puck up ice with ease which is something that shouldn't be ignored in a young player. Sure, he rarely jumped up in the rush but he would throw the occasional big hit and was pretty sound when he played for us. Essentially, he was a more defensively responsible Sbisa or a more physical Tanev. That's what I took out of watching him play FOR THE CANUCKS under the Canucks defensive system. Now look at the one big hole that we're missing - a young, right handed shutdown defenceman to play and grow with Hutton. Corrado would have been perfect on this team, either as Sbisa's partner on the bottom pairing for now or playing with the speedy Hutton. Their games complement each others perfectly and sure they'd make mistakes as kids, but that could have been a monster future pairing.JB and Linden messed up with letting him go. He may not be fitting in well into the Leafs organization, but he had a spot and a role with the Canucks. We put ourselves in a terribly stupid position of only keeping one young defenceman up, and in the span of a few months we lost a lot of depth on our right side (after Clendening was burned as well). Now we've just got a gaping hole on the right hand side, and Weber and Biega are not filling it well at all. We desperately needed Corrado's size and grit on the right hand side and now Benning better be ready to make a move to get one.
coryberg
Too bad we couldn't have traded weber for a pick and kept Frankie.
MeanSeanBean
I believe it's based on standings from bottom up. I think we have first dibs because he was taken from us. Also, alf. After making such a fuss over this whole thing, stick with your original opinion. After fighting so hard I feel like your can't flip flop now. Boudrias
We don't know yet what Van lost in Corrado. It is obvious that there is a new attitude in Lafferland otherwise Corrado would have been thrown to the wolves by now. Bottom line is he is in TO and working with top coaching. He has the same promise in TO as he had in Vancouver. Wish him well.Dale Weise: Tied with Max for the goal led by the top team in the NHL. When Van let him go I disagreed. I always thought he could play 3rd line in the NHL. He showed flashes of that but his inconsistency cost him in Van. How a player develops often depends on his coach and his team mates, especially his line mates. When CDC fans consider Sven B keep Dale Weise in mind. MeanSeanBean
I love reading this thread. Everyone who hated on him now can see it was a terrible call to let him go with the depth we have on the right side. And only took a couple weeks. This is one occasion that it feels necessary. Told you so.
