Where would Kassian have fit in this rebuild?

Big Fan of his skill level and potential. Not a big fan of the two Kassian Canucks jerseys now collecting dust in my closet.

It wasn't going to work here. He clearly needed one more problem in Montreal to wake-up and want to save himself. Hope he does it.

Kass could take the "rehab" slot, or maybe the CDC "whipping boy" slot or if all fails, the"Why can't he put it all together" slot.

Pretty much the one(s) he had, alright.  With Prust gone, I think we can say we have flushed twice on this one now.

As a supporter of his, I look forward to seeing him match up against us with Edmonton and wish him well, but am happy to put the rest in the rear-view mirror.

hes been great in edmonton.. watched the game on sportsnet.. he was very physical and had great control of the puck..

Yup:  there's still a serious hockey player inside him.  If it comes out, I think it will be due to the wake-up calls rather than Edmonton's legendary youth development system.

Too many fans get their knickers in a knot over players that have left the Canucks and gone on to little to no success elsewhere. There hasn't been a major blunder in years. It's not like this team has traded a top 6 forward or a top 4 D away.

I could not help noticing that this year's all-star game featured Schneider and Luongo, either of whom could be in Vancouver on a cap hit of less than Miller's 6  million. Personally, I would say that the handling of Lu and Schneider by the previous regime was a blunder. And I think giving Grabner away in the Ballard deal (along with a first) was also a blunder. Over the three seasons after he was traded he has 70 goals in 199 games. That is a pace of almost 30 goals per 82 games -- better than anyone on the Canucks over that period. Going back a bit further, letting Willie Mitchell walk was a mistake.

I realize that we got Horvat for Schneider and Markstrom for Luongo and I like both Horvat and Markstrom a lot. But most nights the most important player on the ice is the goalie. Lu is a big piece of the great run Florida is on, and has probably turned what would have been a good team into a genuine Cup contender and Schneider has turned NJ into a respectable team almost by himself (slight exaggeration).

This moves were of course made by the previous regime. I agree that no major blunders have been made under the Benning regime. The Canucks have not let any top players slip through their fingers so far (apart from the inevitable observation that some guys who could have been drafted turn out to be stars).

...So it seems like we lost the Prust-Kassian trade (although Montreal lost as well). Thinking about the Sedin's talking about how much they liked playing with Zack it had me thinking about what if he got the opportunity to play on the first line this year with all the young guns. We all know success changes the way a player plays, and if he took that first line spot with the Sedin's I have little doubt he would have clicked....

...Yeah, I think the twins would have been humble enough to say they like playing with anybody. I still remember Kassian in his first season, and actually seeing Hank yelling at him from the bench right before he would take a stupid penalty. I doubt they "liked" playing with him. No doubt they liked scoring with him once in a while, but we all know the twins go best with Burr anyways. heheh.

I'm still hoping to see a Sedin Line with some serious danger to it... something like when Carter found his groove. There is still time for that, of course!

Hansen can fill that role nicely. Right now I see He has a lot of the same qualities that Burrows in his prime had.

We'll see if we get a big name winger in the summer, but more likely Benning will focus on fixing other areas, especially defence.

You bought 2 Kassian jerseys? How much do you drink man. By the sounds of it you probably have a David Booth jersey as well.

I have been a big-time Benning believe, and loved him trading away Lack, while picking up Prust (originally) because I thought he would have made a difference for our team character-wise. Obviously that blew up in our face.

I think this would have been the year to give him a shot to break out of that hold that's been stopping him from reaching his true potential. Hansen has had great looks with the Sedin's and Vrbata looked great with them last year.

I understand he's not on the team, but I just wanted to see others opinion of how he would have been used this year. Prust obviously has a limited time here.

In a perfect world without substance abuse and if he took his fitness seriously.

he would have fit in beautifully on the Sedins line.

he had size speed right hand shot and was quite the underrated passer.

but realistically if he stayed in Vancouver all this time nothing would have changed. It's taken a lot for him to get to where he is now and even that is not that certain.

its a shame though

A lot of speculation of what he may or may not have done here. Fact is it is all speculation. The Only thing that burns me is  that in all the Cody, Prust and Kassian Debacle is that Oilers seem to be the only team so far to come out ahead and they are the ones that ended up with with this so called "bad seed" Time will tell.

Kassian would have been a great mentor to our Young guns.

Puck Bunnies at the Roxie

Mean Putine on Granville at 3.00 AM after the Roxie closes.

He would have so many things to teach the young guns about being a 20 year old millionaire living downtown Van.
