Is this guy one more hit away from being done?

My concern that he is one more hit away from being far worse than done in hockey.  I sure hope his medical advisors know what they are doing and that they are clear about future potential head injuries.

Was just reading his thoughts on his setbacks and lack of progress.   He might not be back at all.

It would be very sad to see him retire, but it would be far worse to see the results of yet another hit to the head.  He's fought so hard to get well, but it seems the rate of progress is not good.  How very frustrating for him.

Is there a new update.  He was on the road trip and practicing with the team in non contact.

I must have had a seizure.   I didn't know he was with the team

The Nucks hold their cards tight to the vest when it comes to injury updates, so it can be difficult to keep up.  Regardless, the concern for his long term health is still there.

If I'm the G.M. of the Canucks, I'm wanting to wash my hands of this, via a trade once healthy if in fact he has suffered measurable Brain Damage.

Yeah, I don't know that anyone would want that on their hands.

They did that with Mitchell when they wouldn't resign him. I thought it was the classy thing to do and yet Willie went on to 2 CUPs and played another what 5 years. It doesn't mean he won't have trouble later.

I have looked at the video of Baer being hit a few times. It simply does not look that bad of a hit. Maybe I am missing something. His reaction when he came up from the ice was a pissed off one. We can only assume that he is getting top notch medical advice.

He's been going through the concussion protocol for almost 2 months now.  Combined with 4 previous concussions, I'd say his chances of a complete recovery isn't great.  Crosby still complains of symptoms now and again, so I guess it's and individual choice.  Personally, I don't think a few years of NHL hockey is worth risking one's future brain health.

Demko's concussion was just as bad - he said there were days where he thought it would never get better and yet he is back playing.  He also admitted to several concussions without giving the number.

Roussel had similar symptoms to Baertschi and said it wasn't his 1st but didn't know how many he had.

Both went to see that same specialist in Detroit.

I'm just a hockey fan and know very little about brain injuries.  I do know that there have been many players (in all contact sports) throughout the years that have suffered dearly; both physically and emotionally from these concussion.  I hope you're right, mil.  Only the future knows for sure and she ain't telling us nothin'.

That specialist better be right - he has treated numerous athletes.  I hope that no team would put a player's health at risk especially now that teams/players are more informed of the lasting effects of brain injuries.

Too many players don't want to admit they were concussed and try to play through it - McAvoy being a recent example.  Baertschi sounds well aware that he can't return before being fully healthy and Green has mentioned early on that they will be patient.

No one can know what a player is going through whether Baertschi, Demko or Roussel.  Their description to media sounded just as concerning as what Baer described.

Demko to Brough, behind the Athletic's paywall: "Couple times it was pretty scary, maybe having symptoms a couple days in a row, your mind starts to wander into worst case scenario."  He talked of good days/bad days alternating and how he felt at times that he would never recover.

Roussel told Kuzma in the Province that he experienced dizziness, headaches and sensitivity to light after skating.

Baertschi (concussion) participated in Saturday's morning skate, Jeff Paterson of TSN 1040 Vancouver.

Baertschi slowly continues to make progress, but was practicing in a non-contact jersey, meaning his return isn't imminent. He's missed the last 24 games, and it appears the Canucks aren't going to rush him back prematurely. It's safe to rule him out for Saturday's game with Philadelphia.

I would shut him down until the New Year at this point.  He and Sutter can come back together.  I think the Canucks will need to make a move prior to them returning.  Wonder if that's why we are hearing the Burakovsky rumors.  Goldobin?

Third time he has been back skating - first time he didn't have to shut it down pretty well immediately.    Hopefully this time is a better go of it for him.

Third time back skating is better than third time not back skating!
