The "scandal" sure has not hurt the Libs at all in BC. The Libs are leading in Quebec, are tied with the conservatives in Ontario, but have Doug Ford working super hard for them in Ontario, and by the time the election hits they should be good in Quebec, Ontario and BC, which might be enough.
DonLever
Former cabinet ministers Jody Wilson-Raybould and Jane Philpott will seek re-election as Independent candidates in the fall election campaign, having rejected an offer to join the Green Party after weeks of talks with leader Elizabeth May. The MPs made their announcements at separate, back-to-back news conferences in their ridings, nearly two months after being expelled from the Liberal caucus. In her Vancouver-Granville riding this morning, Wilson-Raybould said a non-partisan approach is the best way to change the way politics is done in Canada. https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/philpott-wilson-raybould-political-future-1.5150957

No question both will become a divisive election tool for the two big parties in Canada. Jane Philpott has very little chance of winning her current riding given she won it by only a small margin over her Conservative opponent. It is a really a Conservative stronghold in which the Conservatives had 50% of the vote in 2011. She is also the lesser known of the two. She is more a follower of Judy and a secondary player in the whole affair. Judy R. Wilson, on the other hand, is a more interesting case. As a high profile, center of attention candidate, she stands a good chance of winning or at the minimum, splitting the vote, to allow someone else beside a Liberal being elected.
DonLever
https://globalnews.ca/news/5764034/justin-trudeau-snc-lavalin-broke-ethics-rules/ Prime Minister Justin Trudeau broke the federal Conflict of Interest Act by trying to exert influence over former attorney general Jody Wilson-Raybould in what came to be known as the SNC-Lavalin scandal, according to a new report. Ethics commissioner Mario Dion released the hotly anticipated findings of his report into allegations that Trudeau improperly pressured Wilson-Raybould to override the decision of the director of public prosecutions not to offer the Quebec engineering giant a deal to avoid criminal prosecution on charges of corruption and bribery. “The prime minister, directly and through his senior officials, used various means to exert influence over Ms. Wilson‑Raybould,” said Dion. “The authority of the prime minister and his office was used to circumvent, undermine and ultimately attempt to discredit the decision of the director of public prosecutions as well as the authority of Ms. Wilson‑Raybould as the Crown’s chief law officer.” Dion specifically looked at Section 9 of the Conflict of Interest Act, which bars public office holders from “using their position to seek to influence a decision to improperly further the private interests of a third party, either by acting outside the scope of their legislative authority, or contrary to a rule, a convention or an established process.” As Dion noted in his report, it was not enough just to seek to influence someone else for an action to break the rules. There had to be a specific desire to “improperly further the interests of SNC-Lavalin.” And Dion said that’s exactly what he found was the case. “The evidence showed that SNC-Lavalin had significant financial interests in deferring prosecution. These interests would likely have been furthered had Mr. Trudeau successfully influenced the Attorney General to intervene in the Director of Public Prosecutions’ decision,” wrote Dion. “The actions that sought to further these interests were improper since they were contrary to the Shawcross doctrine and the principles of prosecutorial independence and the rule of law.”

EP Phone Home
JT speaking about “the rule of law” when he himself breaks the very law he claims to be standing up for and his Canadians. An apology to Jody Wilson Raybould won’t mean anything (not that it would now) come around election time when her book comes out. Same $€!+ different pile. And Andy Sheer is certainly no better. Pick your poison and Vote for the best liar folks! If this is certainly the end of Mr. Sunny Ways I at least will miss his peoplesplaning on important topics such as plastic bottle replacements... The whole point of my post was to illustrate that Scheer is not a saint when it comes to corruption, and so this complaining about SNC-Lavalin should not be the reason to run and vote Scheer.
