morrissex95
AT OR BEFORE THE DRAFT Trade 1 To Vancouver: RW Ryan Callahan F Tyler Johnson To Tampa Bay: F Markus Granlund LW Tanner Pearson Explanation: Tampa Bay clears $7,050,000 off their cap to re-sign some of their veteran defenders allowing them to ease Foote in without throwing him to the Wolves.Tampa also gets a productive top 9 forward in Pearson who can replace what Callahan brings at a lower price. Vancouver gets a productive yet overpaid bottom six forward in Callahan and a bonafide top 6 forward in Johnson who can be Horvat's right hand man. Trade 2 To Vancouver: COL 1st 2019(14th Overall) the rights to Semyon Varlamov To Colorado: C Brandon Sutter(20% retained = $3,500,000 AAV) Explanation: Colorado receives a veteran centre that will help insulate their young centres from tough matchups. Sutter will shutdown rival teams centres such as Sequin, Scheifele and Johansen in the competitive central division. Note that Sutter comes into Colorado with a 20% decreased cap hit than what his cap hit was in Vancouver, making him a very affordable bottom six forward. Vancouver receives another top pick to help accelerate the team's rebuild Trade 3 To Buffalo: G Jacob Markstrom To Vancouver: BUF 1st 2019 Explanation: Buffalo has been desperate for a bonafide number 1 since Ryan Miller left. Say hello to the 6'6 Markstrom who is just entering his prime, has loads of upside and had quite a bit of pedigree when he was drafted. It may be a steep price but Buffalo pays it 9 times out of 10 to get a goalie as skilled as Marky. It sucks to say goodbye but we have the ultra competitive Demko not to mention Dipietro knocking on the door. Trading Markstrom will require the Canucks to acquire a less-skilled veteran goaltender to insulate Demko and Dipietro(see the Colorado trade where we get Varlamov's rights) AT THE 2019 NHL ENTRY DRAFT Trade 4 To Vancouver: 1st Overall To Los Angeles: BUF 1st 2019 VAN 1st 2019 LW Sven Baertschi VAN 2nd 2020 Explanation: Los Angeles adds 2 top 10 prospects instead of 1, a placeholder in their top 6 in Baertschi and an additional draft pick to give up the opportunity to draft Jack Hughes. However instead of drafting Hughes they can still add two high end elite-skilled prospects instead of just one. In other words this deal makes sense for LA because they are still giving fans hope 1st round SELECTIONS 1st Overall: F Jack Hughes COL 1st 2019(13th Overall): D Moritz Seider(big fan of him. 6'4 big frame, skates well and plays in an excellent development program in Germany.) PRIOR TO FREE AGENCY Vancouver Canucks re-sign G Semyon Varlamov to a 3 year $13,500,000 contract($4,500,000 AAV) Vancouver Canucks re-sign G Thatcher Demko to a 2 year $5,500,000 contract($2,750,000 AAV) Vancouver Canucks re-sign D Alex Edler to a 3 year $15,000,000 contract($5,000,000 AAV) Vancouver Canucks qualify D Ben Hutton, D Josh Teves, F Tyler Motte and F Josh Leivo, Vancouver Canucks re-sign RW Brock Boeser to a 8 year $56,000,000 contract with a No-Movement Clause ($7,000,000 AAV) Vancouver Canucks re-sign D Luke SChenn to a. 2 year $1,600,000 contract ($800,000 AAV) FREE AGENCY: Trade 5: To Carolina: D Ben Hutton LW Loui Eriksson LW Nikolay Goldobin To Vancouver: D Jake Bean Explanation: Despite Eriksson $6M cap hit he's only owed $9M over the final three years of his contract, which averages out of $3M per year of actual salary vs. a much larger cap hit. For teams that struggle annually to reach the cap floor, this is an intriguing asset for the 'Canes. Hutton is a solid veteran defender who is a solid bottom pairing guy that can fill in for the top 4 when there are injuries. Hutton is cheap and he's left-handed which is something Carolina needs more of in order to balance out their backend. Goldobin, meanwhile, adds a young dynamic offensive player. He is Russian so he complements Andrei Svechnikov, the 2nd overall pick in 2018 who put up a disappointing first season but is improving every game. I'm confident that Goldobin will bounce back in less of pressure cooker environment that we have here in Vancouver. FREE AGENT SIGNING Vancouver Canucks sign D Deryk Engelland to a 3 year $10,500,000 contract($3,500,000 AAV) FREE AGENCY. CONTINUES Obviously the Canucks roster was full of players before free agency started and therefore GM Morrissex simply isn't interested in signing players that he'll regret later on. As a result, we've signed Goldobin(2x2.25M) while Motte and Leivo accepted their qualifying offers. TRAINING CAMP Coach Green decides in training camp that 1st overall pick Jack Hughes will move to wing to allow Elias Pettersson and Bo Horvat to remain in their current positions. Here is how Morrissex95's new and improved Vancouver Canucks squad looks: 1-Jake Virtanen-Elias Pettersson-Brock Boeser 2-Jack Hughes-Bo Horvat-Tyler Johnson 3-Antoine Roussel-Adam Gaudette-Ryan Callahan 4-Tyler Motte-Jay Beagle-Josh Leivo Tim Schaller and Ryan Spooner 1-Alex Edler-Troy Stecher 2-Quinn Hughes-Chris Tanev 3-Olli Juolevi-Deryk Engelland Alex Biega Luke Schenn Starter: Semyon Varlamov Backup: Thatcher Demko Prospects: Moritz Seider Jett Woo Tyler Madden Jake Bean Josh Teves Guillaume Brisebois Kole Lind Jonah Gadjovich Michael Dipietro Mitch Eliot Jalen Chatfield
luckylager
Considering you must be drunk AF, Sexymorris, the layout of your proposal is really quite pleasing to the eye. It's one of those clap and cry moments really.
D-Money
Definitely well laid out - 10/10 for format. However, there's lots in this that is just crazy. Nobody is going to trade 1st overall for that package, for starters. Also, Deryk Engelland turns 37 next month, and has shown noticeable signs of decline this year. Do you realize the ramifications of giving a guy who is 35 or older a multiyear deal?
Fanuck
9/10 for effort. Would've given you 10/10 but you have zero info graphics. 1/10 for content. This is some classic CDC over-valuation of franchise personnel on a massive scale. Starting off with asking Callahan to waive from 1st to worst and got progressively more ludicrous from there. timberz21
lol Brandon Sutter bringing in a better package than Kesler. lol Markstrom bringing in a better pick than Schneider. lol it's the equivalent of asking the LA Kings to trade McDavid for Noah Hanifin and Zach Werenski or Matthews for Juolevi and A. Nylander. Hughes not quite to the level of those two, but still, two top 10 is not even close to a #1 overall, unless it's weak year like Hischier/Patrick or Ekblad/Reinhart. Bure1010
The only move plausible is markstrom for sabres 1st. But the 1st would have to the sharks in 19 or be sabres 2020. And we would probably have to take back one of there bad goalies. Not to mention demko has stared six games
J.I.A.H.N
Virtanen playing 1st line left wing pfff Maybe if he grows a Burns beard and lets his hair grow kid is still to immature to be a first line winger I actually don't think he has a finesse bone in his body Great effort other wise Formatting should go into the Hall of Fame
Nucker 67
Pretty sure the Canucks would have to add a s**t-load of Draft picks in those trades.
Warhippy
So we're clear. If any of that was even possible, I am fairly certain Jimbo would rather have 3+ first round picks, all of which being in the top 15 with the draft being in Vancouver as opposed to trading everything for Hughes

Tyndall2
I like a lot of what your cooking except I would be hesitant to deal Markstrom quite yet. Demko not quite the superstar yet that everyone hopes for. Also, I don't like the Edler resign. I would save $5 million to spend somewhere else and let him go. It's a downgrade but if we give up more goals we'll be lower in the standings giving us a chance to pick Lafraniere or Byfield next year in the 2020 NHL Draft. I personally love Byfield, he could push Pettersson to the wing. Although Pettersson is a strong centre, a good two-way player and a decent face-off man I feel moving him to wing optimizes his skill set.
