I am really hoping we get a look at him in Vancouver in a few weeks when he is available and then have him in Abby for the playoffs. B)

Yeah, getting McDonaugh and Truscott to sign their ELCs would be a great way to end the tank year.

Yes but they asked him if he was gonna go pro or go back for another year.

Everyone freaked out when he was non-commital.

This is a lot different. McDonnough is 24, so his age makes him a 2 year ELC, regardless of whether he signs early with us or waits until August to be a UFA.

Other than loyalty, what incentives are there for him to sign with us? A couple months and he can pick his club of choice.

Good thing he sounds like a loyal guy that appreciates the support and advice the Canucks have given him.

Not to mention him and Rathbone are best friends.

And he should have a good opportunity here to get on the big club. Hopefully Allvin, after meeting recently with the family, knows what the player will choose. Although, how much trade value would McDonnough have anyway? If we are trading his rights, that’s saying he is going to August free agency and we know it. So no team will want him, except for the team that he wants to sign with in August. And what would that team trade for his rights, when knowing they get him in a couple months as a UFA? Pretty much we needed to trade his rights last summer. Now, he has zero value. He signs with us or it’s nothing in return.

Moving McDonaugh would be a throw in on a multi player deal. He has limited trade value. Whether he signs with Van or not is something I would hope he would be up front about with PA. We can be optimistic because there is lots of opportunity in Vancouver. But that said there is opportunity elsewhere as well. He has 5 years experience within the Canuck org so hopefully that helps.
