From the point of view that any NHL franchise is a professional organization that reaches audiences across the world, then yes... the punishment is in line with what many professional organizations would do.

I wonder how long until Treliving gets canned as well.

I think Treliving has this season.  No playoffs, or another crappy playoffs, and he’s gonzo too.  I could see a new GM breaking up the Flame’s core too.  Which core guy gets traded?  Little Johnny?

but its a business based almost entirely on people and persona's. How do you trot Peters back out under that kind of situation? its not an allegation anymore, he admitted to it. Not sure how you ever recover from that in this kind of public business.

He wears black face, and only pushes women in parliament.  That’s, not the n word and kicking men.

Pour PM actually got votes after black faces and pushing a woman in parliament!

And if one player is caught on camera calling another a faggot, should he be ineligible from ever playing in the NHL again? This has obviously happened before. It happens all the time on the ice if you've played hockey at any sort of level competitively. By the standard set here today that answer would be yes.

There has to be a standard but this one infraction and you're done standard we've set is unacceptable. Basically, we're asking fallible entities to be perfect every time all the time.

Good post.

Good point. Shaw is playing for Chicago again. They seemingly forgave him.....

There seems to be a portion of modern day society that is infallible and they are getting to decide what happens.

except it whiffs on the concept of responsibility. Peters (as we all are) is responsible for his actions. Of course we all &^@# up, but you are also judged on your behaviour after and things you may have done to set things right. Doesn't seem like Peters did anything to change his odd behaviour in the last 10 years, and I don't see much of an apology for the Aliu incident.

Hasn't changed his behavior based on what? The complete absence of evidence he has dropped an N bomb since in any context?

the libreals could have asked him to resign or fired him

did you miss the public apologizing part? people actually effected by the images took him at his word, and we all got a chance to vote him out if we waned to.

That’s the #1 chirp on any team when you’re looking for it.
