Coming into this season we weren't expecting to be fighting for the Cup but as things went our way and where we found ourselves in the standings we thought we owed it to our fans to load up and make a run. We gutted a lot of futures to make the incredibly key additions of the two players who ultimately brought us home the hardware in Arturri Lehkonen and Josh Manson. We are thrilled to be the first ever 3 time winner of the CDCGML and our victory goes to show that you can be mediocre for years and still win if the chips fall the right way! Lastly a big tip of the cap to our opponents throughtout the playoffs. Your teams pushed us to the brink and helped form the mettle we needed to bring Stanley home. We've been here from the first day of the league (shoutout to our captain Kris Letang who is a day 1 Sabre) and I can't believe we've made it back to the top of the mountain. You built a deadly team this year after a decade of waiting in the weeds and knocked out some powerhouse clubs to get to the top again. Awesome! @Squeak I don't know what to say buddy, you continue to build strong contending teams and have been to the show multiple times now. A feat not to be taken lightly. We were hoping for an 8 year deal, but after acquiring McDavid on a 5 year contract we feel teking the shorter term for a lower cap hit made the most sense. We have built a core to make this team seriously competetive for the next 4-5 seasons, and we are doing everything we can to add the right pieces around them this offseason. We really feel we have a chance for a deep run next season. There will be no more mediocrity in Toronto. We will win a cup before these 4 year deals run out.
