Since we are on LTIR anyways I am assuming we carry 8D all season.  He "should" be in our top 8.  One would hope they actually make use of the depth and rotate guys in on a fairly regular basis to keep everyone fresh.

Schenn should be able to come in and play for Poolman when we need a little more grit... same as Juolevi could swap in for Rathbone.

OEL-Poolman
Hughes-Hamonic
Rathbone-Myers
Juolevi-Schenn

Only question is whether club will give Brad Hunt, Brady Keeper and/or Madison Bowey a real chance at making the club. Could see a # of possible combos, I wouldn't be shocked if they start the year

OEL - Poolman

Hughes - Hamonic

Juolevi - Myers

Schenn, Keeper

Call-up: Rathbone

That gives them a lot of grit with a waiver exempt call-up down the ol road in Abbotsford.

OJ will really have to stink to not get a spot.  Even if he’s the #7, he’s on the club.  Bone might be so good we can’t keep him out of the lineup.  But he’d need to be exceptional, because that bottom pair LSD isn’t getting a lot minutes.

I agree. They'll give Boner a real chance but he does have the cap against him with his waiver exemption status.

Why is Baumgartner still allowed to run the defense? How is that a smart move? Why bring in a defensive specialist to run the forwards and power play?

I was under a different impression here. This doesn’t bode well at all for the team.

I would agree that he was terrible so far but he has a specialist giving advice and direction to him.

And Bone’s ceiling is really high as an offensive guy.  He can play those kinds of minutes in Abby, and really develop.  I think OJ is more like a steady ?Eddy defensive guy.

Wouldn't it be better to have Shaw giving advice and direction to a coach who is actually capable of coaching at any level?  I wouldn't hire Baumer to coach a peewee team.

Likely a smooth over until Shaw takes over. We’ll see I guess

A couple things.

He's going to be running the forwards. The forwards were arguably our biggest problem with our 'defense' last year (poor puck support in particular).

It's already been stated that he'll be clear second in command after Green. He'll very likely have his hands in our defensive systems, even if Baumer is the guy running the drills etc.

As for OJ and the D lineup this is my guess as well:

I'm going to go on record here:

Imo the team will give all their players a chance to make the team, just like all the other years.

Frankly I'd go further and say J.B. would love it if his cheaper signings displaced the others. It would give him a bunch of now tradeable assets and the ability to bring in a couple of high, high talent/pay players.

He won’t be my first choice that’s for sure but having a guy like Shaw helping both him and Travis I’m not to worried about the past now that we have an NHL vet coach on staff.
