If we get 3 points out of the next three road games, I’ll be happy. Tough to go into 3 buildings where it’s filled with fans for the first time in 18 months. And 3 home openers to boot. The only guy to play in front of an audience last year was Podz I believe. Tough breaks all around last night. But hopefully we will benefit from some also. With all the money being spent on the team and maybe half full Rogers Arena for the first bunch of games. Aquillini might be hesitant to let Green go and pay for another coach. They lost enough money last year.

francesco will be hesitant to let travis go alright, but money doesn't play a role in it.

The Wings are better than they're being given credit for.  They're well ahead of Buffalo and Arizona.  They took the Lightning to OT.  They're a couple of years away from challenging for the playoffs imo.

Like many lower skilled teams they're playing a system that confounded the Canucks.  A good example of how it works in the D zone is the replay of the Garland goal.  They're not chasing behind the net and have 5 guys below and in between the dots.  When they can they'll also double team the puck carrier.

It didn't help that the Canucks game is still a little out of sync.  Lots of missed passes especially early

uh huh 37 shots against an ahl team? dominated in the first period. and we blame it on the ref just like every other game this season lol.. what about the non existent powerplay? what about the non existent offense all of preseason and 2 of the 3 games so far? maybe all 3 games if hart didn't let beach balls in during that 2nd period. grats we dominated an AHL team grats we still haven't played a full 60 mins game in any of the regular season/preseason and end of last season yet, and which skilled players other than EP and Hughes get chances on this team? last i checked hoglander is on a 3rd line with checkers while Chiasson is playing PP1 extra men top line mins etc etc. oh and podz? his reward for scoring a goal last game? glue to the bench for the entire 3rd period.

Ahl team?

Sometimes you run into a hot goalie, we did. Better team didn't win tonight.

That being said, our powerplay has consistently looked like garbage.

where's Newell?

Can you elaborate?  They've got a good young, skilled roster of players

sure they  have a bunch of good prospect on their team that prolly should get seasoned in ahl but they have no players to put on their team. it's the lowest scoring team in the league by a large margin last year.. even worse than the dumpster fire in buffalo

Last year was last year, different year, different team.  You can't compare last years team to this years.  They didn't have Raymond or Seider in their lineup.  Those 2 look like nice players.

sure but they are still projected to finish in the bottom 3 in the standing. if we have any playoff aspiration we can't be dropping points against some of the worse teams in the league.

Can't win them all.  You have unrealistic expectations.  There will be games where the Canucks aren't expected to win, where they will win.  It's the way the season goes.  So stop being so negative and enjoy the ride, or if you're unhappy, go find a different thing to go enjoy that would make you happy.

How about the NHL stop back to back games. While the home team is at home resting.

We will lose some more games to teams we should beat and win some against teams that should beat us. So will every other team, that’s the nature of the league. Granted we do have to make sure we don’t lose too many of those. NVM, I see @Viper007 types faster than I do!

Also last night there several posters complaining that “the Canucks always manage to make backup goalies look like all-stars.” Greiss had a terrific game and stopped 23 shots in the third and earned everything he got. He was the best player on the ice on the night.

i don't see other teams complaining about it. in general vancouver is in the upper 1/3 with the least amount of back to back in the league. we have 12 this year 23 other teams have more back to back than us with islander having 19 of them

We also play the 3rd most teams on the 2nd of back to back while rested.

I will remind you that Vancouver each year travels the most of all teams.

Also you use the islanders as an example, 2 teams are in the same city as them, rangers and devils. Also they dont go out of their time zone for most of the year.
Whatever the Nucks still played a good game.

Did you catch the missed call when we got a PP for the hold on Rathbone with 6 min left in the game?

In the Det zone, Fabbri gave Garland a two hander right in front of the refs. They didn't call it because Canucks were already about to go on the PP.

A 5 on 3 with 6 minutes left and siren by 1 could have changed the game completely

Fabbri sure played a dirty game for a complete bandaid.

Well you have to look closer.

Islanders often get a nice rest before and after a back to back.

Not sure where you get 19 from?  They have 4 b2b's at home and 3 on the road.  And of those there are often multiple days off before and after.  So not much to complain about there.  All of our b2b's are on the road, usually with extra travel involved.

But we do have a MUCH better schedule than usual.
