[Rumour] Bo Horvat Trade/Contract Talks

If Canucks aren't willing to sign Bo for 7m or up to 8m even then the team should trade him sooner than later while he remains a scoring machine. Also, Canucks GM should try to get the trading team to want to sign Bo long term, ups the return maybe not a ton but more assets the better

I wouldn't be surprised. He's earned the right to play somewhere competitive.

Still prefer to keep him, but that ship may have sailed.

Sailed, and possibly with us getting zero in return. Time will tell, but they better get something for him.

If Bo goes then every player who can be traded should be traded. Only exceptions being Petey, Hughes, Demko and Podz.

Gone as well should be Miller, Myers, Pearson (when healthy), Kuz (hate to see him go but a good return is warranted), OEL (likely not possible), Garland (if the price is right) and anyone else who can fetch a decent prospect and/or a second round pick or better.

Why? Teams will compete against eachother to add Horvat. He will be highly sought after.

Same reason we didn't trade Miller and instead locked him up long term: expiring contract, teams not allowed to negotiate with player, player asking too much and too long for most teams therefore making the player a rental, and teams knowing all of this and offering us less than fair value. So, either they lose him for nothing or likely trade Bo but not with a fair return. Unless there's a team that does pony up for Bo, but I find it hard to believe that they wouldn't pony up for a 99 point Miller but they will for a 60 point Bo.

If Horvat's getting traded, I see a similar return to what Giroux got last year. Basically a 1st, a 3rd, and a highly touted young player/prospect who's been struggling to take the next step.

I agree with @GB5 that it would be a signal to blow everything up. I think you keep OEL though not just because he won't get much value back, but because you still need some veterans to bridge the gap to the new core. If we're blowing things up, there's very little chance the Canucks will do anything for the next 4 years so his contract doesn't hurt. Plus, OEL has served as captain before and can do so again here until the next heir apparent emerges.

Bo is a legitimate center who plays all special teams, is a faceoff ace, been on a 25 goal pace for the last few seasons, just hit 30 goals, and is two years younger. Miller and Bo aren't remotely the same. Bo, while not a defensive specialist, isn't Miller defensively either. Teams know what they're getting in a Horvat, and Miller being a 99 point player is likely a one off. Bo's been pretty consistent regarding his production and contributes in other ways if not producing.

For one, Miller is questionable at center. Bo isn't. Teams get a 2C in Bo, they get a top 6 winger who can take faceoffs in Miller.
