Miller is it. You also can’t keep the same team together. This team still struggles with consistency and scoring and it has some big holes. It’s great they are playing well the last couple but come on, without Demko and tonight is evidence of this, we would be in big trouble. We still don’t have an identity. That’s a big issue. You can’t trade bad contracts for elite dman. Again they have been good lately. We need honesty too where they are at. Not saying we trade them for those elite pieces - Im saying we move them and free up salary, because they've played themselves into enough value where we wont have to retain anything to move them, and in the case of Myers and Pearson, we may actually get a return of some kind (mid round picks maybe). This coming UFA pool is rich with great options, and we've got some pieces we can trade - our 1st, and an NHL ready offensive defenseman in Rathbone. I disagree that we dont have an identity. Under Boudreau, the team wins 2 games for every 1 game it loses, and they've found their stride as a transition team. On top of that, the Canucks are at the top of the league under Boudreau for Goals against. Our biggest pieces we're missing are: - A stay at home defenseman - A couple of great penalty killers, one of which should be a center that wins a lot of faceoffs (basically what Brandon sutter was supposed to be for us this year) Those are very attainable pieces. If we need to move a forward at the deadline to grab some picks to trade for those pieces, we can always pick up a great forward from the UFA pool (Domi, Rust, etc.)

But the other two? Dickinson and Poolman we'd have to include sweeteners to move them - cap dumps on a team that wants to stock up on picks. Myers and Pearson we should be able to get a return of some sort - maybe mid to late round picks.

I wouldn’t put much behind it. Look at the first period tonight. Boudreau admits all the time our goalie is the best player. How are those very attainable pieces if that was true we would have gotten them by now. Edited February 28, 2022 by Canuckfanforlife82
