[Trade] Canucks trade Travis Hamonic to Senators for 2022 3rd-round pick

for hamonic, really? what did you expect?

a first?

i swear canucks fans overvalue their players than most other fanbases.

A 2nd from a needy playoff team trying to upgrade their bottom pairing. The guy is a capable 20 minute RHD defensive dman that blocks shots and throws the body.

Did you see Hamonic try and play with Hughes? It was a disaster.

We needed that cap space before the offseason. Couldn’t risk running out of time.

Burroughs and Juulsen deserve a shot over Hamonic.

Rightfully so,

I think Burroughs has earned a position to become even better,.  Enter Juulsen and who ever pushes up next year in camp.

Hamonic is a decent defender,  but ailing, and declining on a 3m per year contract.

Im happy for Hamonic,  and happier that we have cleared enough (all) of that cap .

We need that rotational space in the bottom 6-7-8 of D ,  we do have some good prospects coming into camp this Summer.

Smart move by management to clear the money and space with this move..

it’s more about what freedom we get vs what we get back directly.

Management now has the freedom to have serious talks with JT in the off season, and both parties be open about their feelings on the matter of contract.

Haven't checked to see if anyone else has noted this, but, with the Canucks regaining their 3rd for this year they would have been able to offer sheet another team's RFA asset, in the $4 - 6 million range (approx) and be able to supply the 1st and 3rd picks as compensation.

                                           regards,  G.

Evidently the 3rd went to TO for Dermot, so we basically exchanged Harmonic for Dermot.

That would assume someone wants to take on the drama queen. No one wants that for playoffs. Between crying to get back West when he was with the Islanders, his relatively quick exit in Calgary and all the stuff here plus declining skills and 3 million for a 5-6 Dman. No Thanks.
