JeremyCuddles
Poor guy doesn't get the shine he deserves cause he played with the single greatest scorer in the history of the NHL. Also a shame he's potentially leaving due to injuries. Always want someone to leave on their terms.
shiznak
The Capitals’ prospect pool is already bare as it is. MacLellen has to start thinking about the post-Ovechkin era. I highly doubt they’d be interested in shipping more future assets for a soon to be 30-yrs old Miller. However, I could see them taking on some unwanted contracts (OEL/Myers), if it meant they get some future picks/prospects, in return. Now that they can go over the cap by placing Backstrom on LTIR. Herberts Vasiljevs
He's one of the guys I was most happy to see win the cup. 2

johngould21
One of the slickest and accurate passers in the NHL. Glad he won a cup, but, this is a very serious career ending surgery.
Undrafted
Just some extra details: Backstrom is having hip re-surfacing surgery, a procedure that only two other NHLers have had (coincidentally, the other two are both ex-Canucks: Kesler and Jovonovski). As people probably recall, Kesler never played again after his surgery; Jovo did come back but only for 37 games before retiring as well. Backstrom's playing career is almost certainly done, unfortunately
flat land fish
This type of procedure was become more common but not a great track record of hockey players coming back from it. Age is probably not in his favour either. Good luck to him. If he makes it back calling the new nickname hiplas backstrom
