[Proposal] Blockbuster! BOOM!

Recommended Posts

To NYI:

JT Miller

Podkolzin

Myers

To VAN:

Dobson

Wahlstrom

Johnston

Sign Tierney or Rask @ $2M AAV

Gotta pay to play.  You want Dobson?  You give up a serious blue chip prospect to get him -- Podkolzin.

A LOT of value going back and forth in this deal.  You have 99pt man Miller, top tier prospect in Podkolzin.  A big top 4 RHD in Myers.  The NYI give up a bonafide top pairing RHD in Dobson.  A top tier prospect of their own in Wahlstrom.  Johnston is the oddball here, but he brings a ton of toughness to the Canucks.

Again, it's gotta hurt to acquire somebody like Dobson.  This deal hurts, but would be very beneficial in the long run.  The top pairing for the Canucks would be set for years.

Miller << Dobson

Podkolzin > Wahlstrom

Myers > Johnston

Mikheyev-Petey-Boeser

Kuzmenko-Bo-Wahlstrom/Hoglander

Pearson-Tierney-Garland

Dickinson-Lazar-Johnston/Lockwood (Johnston or Lockwood in depending on the opponent)

Hughes-Dobson

OEL-Schenn

Rathbone-Dermott

Poolman

Burroughs

Why do people keep thinking we can land Dobson? It's about as likely as us trading Hughes or Pettersson.

True.  Not likely.  But not impossible.

NYI believe they are in their window now.  Why else would they be interested in Miller?  They're in the opposite position of the Canucks:

1.  Their forwards are the weak spot.  They have plenty of defensive depth.  Even on the RHD.

2.  Their team is primarily in their late 20s and early 30s.

3.  Their window to win is now.

The Canucks situation:

1.  Their defence is the weak spot.  They have plenty of forward depth, but no depth on D.  Especially RHD.

2.  The Canucks are primarily in their early to mid 20s.

3.  The window to win is in a few years.

If the Canucks were in their window right now, and Miller is his current 99pt centre, with Petey as 2C and Bo as 3C, and assuming most of the team were in their late 20s or early 30s, you gotta believe Petey would be dangled for a guy like Seth Jones if it meant the odds of winning now are increased.

It's not like Dobson is gonna be on an ELC this year.  He's likely gonna be $7M+ AAV once he's re-signed.  They have Pulock, Mayfield, Dobson, Romanov (can play RHD), and Wilde coming up the pipeline.

No one is untradeable

How often do you see a young star player traded unless they've specifically stated they want out? It virtually never happens, and considering Dobson is a top pairing RD (probably the hardest position in the NHL to fill),  they'd be absolutely nuts to trade him unless it was a huge overpayment.

They will fork over their best player, and they will like it! :frantic:

More then not it does happen for whatever reason.us to maker your team better you pay a heavy price more then not. They said they would not move him,but reality is he is just another player that could get you a Miller type of player.

Ya so? It still doesn't mean he's untradeable it just means it would be tough but not impossible. With the situation that happened at the draft if I was Vancouver I'd feel we have the upper hand and make them pay if they want Miller, if not we have plenty of other suitors

I think the Canucks resign Miller

Unless we can package Garland with something to bring us a top 4 RHD to play with Hughes, Miller is the ticket for us. I cannot see us starting the season with him unless he's signed to an extension because after that his value starts going down

If Jersey or the Rangers Get Tkatchuk then Lou Lam will be under the gun to match up.  Miller is the only guy out there for him st that point.  Pay up or get rolled by those other teams.

Tarasanko is out there and they could probably get him cheaper then Miller.

No way Rangers can afford JTm much less Tkachuk.
