I think JB's best draft was the Virtanen one. If we gloss over the Virtanen being a total POS part.. This is why interviews are so important. The mindset was at least correct take the guy with the rarest tools size speed combo.  But they also took Mcann, Demko, Tryamkin, Forsling.

If Virtanen had grown from a boy into a man, Tryamkins wife been a pot head, and not mortgaged Forsling + Mcann for the present mayyyyyybe we are a much better team today and JB still has a jerb.

Had we not lost to the big bad bruins in the finals JB wouldn’t have felt like we needed to replicate the big bodied style. Maybe then he would have drafted for skill instead of size in the top 10 and taken Nylander or Ehlers. Then that draft could have been really awesome for us.

Na I mean we searched so many years for that top line PWF to ride shotty with the Sedins? How many players 215-230lbs who play heavy can keep up with Mcdavid in a sprint. Guys like that are unicorns. Virtanen busted thats the human element. You don't just stop going to that well though.

Sigh canucks are a disappointment :(. Can never tank properly.... But again its still early. We can still win 1 or 2 games for every 10 games and end up with a top 5 pick maybe?

A Horvat trade would do wonders for a top 1-8 pick

Demko gone

Trade Horvat for picks this year, or suggest top prospects over picks this year + picks next year

Trade Kuzmenko for picks this year/next year or a couple decent prospects

Trade Garland for prospects

Draft lottery top 7 hopeful!!!!

Richmond native Lukas Dragicevic, a 6'2'' RD is scoring at a bonkers pace in the WHL. Has 35 points(8 goals 27 assists) in 25 games. Currently ranked as late 1st/early 2nd.

Can't find too many scouting reports on this kid. Can anyone give me a good rundown?

He’s looking like a draft riser to me

Leading his team in points! Very impressive! Being that size and a RHD if his production continues I can see him going top 10.

Great puck-moving and offensive defenseman. Major work in progress in his own zone. Not as dynamic or evasive as a guy like Korchinski last year, but he's a smooth skater who likes to carry the puck out of the defensive zone. Brilliant playmaker inside the offensive zone and on the powerplay. Maybe not at his best walking the offensive blueline. More the type to use a lot of movement, quick passes and misdirection. Doesn't mind jumping into the cycle and playing deep in the offensive zone. Despite the defensive issues I expect he'll be one of the first two or three defensemen off the board. I don't see his upside as a superstar in the NHL though. More a top 4, maybe top 3 offensive-minded defenseman and powerplay specialist.

Now if only he didn't trade Mcann and Forsling before they had a fighting chance at developing properly.....

Is this draft touted to be one of the stronger drafts of recent years? Say like the 2005 draft?

the top 5 is looking like a potential historic draft group with almost every player being a potential #1 overall pick in a mid to strong draft class

2005? Lol wut? I'm assuming you mean either 2003 or 2015 - the two strongest drafts in recent decades. It reminds me much more of 2015 than 2003, with the two at the top considered generational talents or close (didn't quite turn out for Eichel but the potential was there), and then two more considered surefire superstars in Marner and Strome (against, didn't quite turn out for Strome). Here we have Bedard and Michkov at the top (although Michkov is a wildcard due to the Russian factor), and then Fantilli and Carlsson.

I wouldn't put it on the same level as '03 or '05 though just due to the quality of defence prospects. At forward and particularly at center it looks like it could match any draft you could name - with an almost absurd abundance of bluechip elite or even franchise centers in Bedard, Fantill, Carlsson, Smith, Dvorsky, Ritchie, Yaeger, Benson - but the defense looks well below average. The various experts and rankings can't seem to agree on which defencemen, if any, should be worth considering a top 10 or 15 amongst that group of elite forwards. That said, there are plenty of good defence prospects to be had, I'm just not convinced it has that kind of crop of bluechip elite defence prospects that would put this draft in the conversation with 2003 or 2015.
