Some players are paid to stop shots, some to cut down on scoring chances against, and some, like Pettersson, are paid to put the puck in the net or set someone else up.
He's not paid to speed skate.

Pettersson is number 1 with 8.9% of our cap.

Draisaitl is paid slightly more, yet has 22 points in 11 games.  That's where Pettersson needs to be or close to.

Stop trolling. You can't just compare Pettersson to Celine Leon who plays with the best player in the world.

Pettersson - 15 points in 11 games

Notable names that have a higher cap hit:

Gaudreau - 8 pts in 10 games

MacKinnon - 12 points in 9 games

Kaprizov - 13 points in 11 games

Crosby / Malkin - 12 points in 11 games

Marner - 11 points in 11 games

Matthews: 10 points in 11 games

the list goes on and on and on....

only thing i can think of is his broken foot from the spring didnt heal correctly?

Not sure how that would impact his puck skills with his hands though and his decision making though.

He seems to be struggling in all aspects of the game right now.

Ive skated with a fractured foot too it's not the absolute worst. And these guys are tough as hell so but maybe your right. Maybe ether break was bad, didn't get to train like he wanted to in the offseason. Maybe his cardio isn't there and thats why he's labouring and he's so tired he's making bad / slow plays..

Yea maybe. But its something for sure. IF this is the player we have for the rest of that contract its going to be very bad.

Nice to see some goals, to a bottom feeding team. Going to really need to tighten up the D if they want to stay relevant this season.

Spencer Martin did not look sharp on a number of goals, probably one of his worst games , even though we got the win.

Fortunately, we had enough firepower to outscore them.

Both Canuck goalies are going to have to be better.

That was also when he was 24 years old.. Erik Karlsson used to look like that as well lol.

But it's insane that he had back to back 20 goal seasons.

Erik Karlsson is now 4-5 yet again in league scoring.  For awhile at least, he was looking and deserved every bit the generational handle as Crosby, Ovi and McDavid got.... he's now on pace for 70 goals lol.   Of course that's not going to happen ... he will get injured like usual and the rest is history.  Well maybe.   He's due for a bounce back season even if his team sucks.   He's already in very small company, Orr, Coffey and Potvin, as in the only D's all-time to be 3 times in the top ten in league scoring...and for good reason.    All this Dahlin hoopla, yet nobody is talking about EK's hot start really... at least yet.

Elias is playing fantastic hockey.

Horvat is playing fantastic hockey.

Kuzmenko looking like an ideal linemate for Petey.

Our defense might as well not even be back there, my God are they pylons.

Our goalies both need the d to tighten up so they can get some confidence, both of them look like they are over thinking the game.

I think we can beat the Preds if our offence stays alight. We need to make some changes to our D though. The Stillman-Myers combination was horrible. I would rather see Burroughs back for sure and maybe even give Juulsen another look.

Yep.

Our record and theirs is very similar:

We should be able to beat a team like us any day!      :)

-We've won 3 of 4.  Ugly wins  are still two points.

-Getting Lazar, Boeser. Dermott back will help for sure.

-I think Boeser and/or Garland are going to be dealt for D and PK help.  I think we can find some cap savings, and a few solid/unspectacular defensive D for either of those tow.  The offense will be fine,   but could improve the D significantly.

-Our top guys are Elite, let's move some secondary pieces to fill the clear gaps.

Win 2 of the next 3 here against 3 teams at our level and we are back in the mix.  We've had an awful start, but so has the Western Conference as a whole, the East has shredded everyone.  If they can figure their SH** out, the slow start won;t mater.

The thing that confuses me is how tentative he is with the puck now. He looks anxious to get it off his stick ASAP. He wont carry it more than a couple strides.

Remember this absolute beast who would fearlessly take the puck end to end?

His positional awareness hasn't been great either, and he's getting beat easily while skating backwards (though if he's playing through a leg injury that last bit makes sense).

Markstrom sucks.  (Now that he's a Phlegm.)

Shot; hand back the puck.

Shot; hand back the puck and get out of position.

Shot; goal against.

Calgary's weakest link this year, imo.
