Popular Post fivethej
This old fool is all talk and no action. Rutherford and his management team are no better than the previous Benning regime. https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/rutherford-again-criticizes-canucks-structure-something-has-to-be-fixed/ Quote Vancouver Canucks president of hockey operations Jim Rutherford did not mince words when it came to the makeup of his formation. Speaking to Dan Riccio and Sat Shah on Sportsnet 690's Canucks Central, Rutherford said that he "would've expected better" from Bruce Boudreau and his players. "In order for us to become a better team we have to play with a stronger system and really be more accountable for some of the things that some of the players are struggling with." Rutherford said. "We're at a point now where we have to make players more accountable and we'll have to take the necessary steps to get players' attention." Vancouver Canucks president of hockey operations Jim Rutherford did not mince words when it came to the makeup of his formation. "We're at a point now where we have to make players more accountable and we'll have to take the necessary steps to get players' attention." Asked if he had the right personnel behind the bench — with Boudreau at the helm — to have that accountability and structure, Rutherford did not directly answer nor did he defend his head coach. "When we talk to the coaches, we stress it," Rutherford said. "I do believe that the style that the team played that had success in the second half of last season was a loose style and more on the offensive side and our goaltender played great and really helped win a lot of those games or bail us out in wide open games. And I don't believe that that's the style of play that you could sustain over a long period of time if you want to contend for a playoff spot." This is not Rutherford's first call-out towards the Canucks' structure. The 73-year-old had told John Garrett and Scott Oake on After Hours back on Oct. 23, "we have to play within a stronger structure to make that game easier for all our players" Rutherford added that Vancouver's blue line has been the biggest cause for concern. "If we were playing in a real, strong structure, it would make it easier for our defence to play and it wouldn't matter who was on our defence, but right now we don't have that strong structure and we need to change the makeup of our defence," he said. The club president stressed that adding to the right side of the Canucks defence is priority number one. In the NHL now, the way the game's played and the way the game's called by the referees, it's hard to defend. "We need to make it younger," Rutherford said. "We took a step forward there when we finally were able to get Ethan Bear, we worked at that deal for a few months but we didn't have the cap space and finally got creative enough that we could do it. "When a defenceman comes along like it did in the offseason, we were in on just about every one of those players that moved to another team but there were always circumstances that meant we couldn't get them." Popular Post Dixon Ward
I had great respect for Rutherford before he came here. However, he seems to talk like he's a spectator and not a part of the team. I think Boudreau is a class act and has earned respect as a coach. If you don't want him, fire him, but JR needs to stop lobbing bombs to undermine players and coaches and roll up his sleeves and do something. 6 1 18 4 1 1
Smashian Kassian
'We were in on all the defenseman that moved in the offseason, but the circumstances were we either didn't have the cap space or other teams had a better player to give up' Pretty clear this references Marino imo.

Popular Post PetterssonOrPeterson
"something needs to be done" "we have bad habits" "we need to fix the defence" all said by JR who hasn't done any of that since the offseason, when you had the biggest trade piece on the market. he's past it and you could tell. Allvin is just a puppet, JR is the ringleader. He should be held accountable for his failures. 2 3
Kelly Green
I guess the Allvin and the chick-munks puppet show isn't enough to keep the players attention either.
Popular Post King Heffy
I thought Yeo was the guy who was supposed to be the systems expert. How about getting rid of that dirtbag before he does more damage? 2 6 1
ktcy2
I want to laugh. So Mr. Rutherford and Mr. Alvin, what is the solution? Aren’t you the president and the GM? How to fix it? All talk

Popular Post billabong
this teams number 1 need is the most lucrative asset in the NHL, a top 4 right hand shot defenseman and everyone thinks the canucks haven't been trying to acquire one... "Trade Miller for Dobson" "Trade Horvat for Carlo" "Trade Boeser for Dumba" "Trade Garland for Severson" don't you think if these trades were available to jimmy he would have made the trade by now? Toronto has been looking for a top 4 right hand shot D for 10 years it feels like they eventually gave up and signed a left hand shot D who can play the right side in Brodie when Rutherford took over he said this is a 2 year project and I'd say he's still on pace to acheive that BELIEVE ME I am as impatient, frustrated, fed up and embarrassed as some of you might be and its hard to wait a another year so BUT that's how badly Benning F&*cked this team for years to come....no one was gonna clean up this mess in 12 months... no one 2 3 11 1 2

Popular Post LucBourdon28
Rutherford is on his retirement contract given to him by a desperate Francesco Aquilini. JR couldn't give a damn about what happens with this team. He's totally set with multiple cups, HHOF, and got his pal Allvin a job And deep down Rutherford wishes he is back with the Penguins Edited November 8, 2022 by LucBourdon28 5

Popular Post Devron
I don’t have faith in this management group yet however having a prez this open in honest is pretty nice. He hasn’t sugar coated anything anytime he’s spoken. Sure we are are sitting here saying put your money where your mouth is but I still think it’s great to hear the honesty. 1

If JR is calling all the shots and is the team spokesman just name him president and GM and get rid of Alvin.

One thing being honest and another being unprofessional. Dude has been openly disrespecting Bruce since the beginning of the season because he couldn’t make any decent moves to fix the d core.

Sure they're hard to come by, but there's always a price and going backwards for a few years to land solid young defensemen to build around has to be worth the feeling of getting fleeced a bit right now.
van_ws
Well then maybe you and Alvin the chipmunk should do something and fucking fix it then you old fool. This management group hasn't done anything yet so it's not like they are any better than Benning. Nothing is going to change until the Aquilinis sell the team. 1 1
