Team defence is the difference and we don't have it. Their D is so solid and physical.

2 games below .500 now and other teams are passing us. We had a time to make a trade if we wanted to salvage the season and that was about 2 weeks ago. Now we've dropped under .500 again I don't see us clawing back.

Management have waited too long to retool, we surely have to be just sellers at this point. If they make a hockey trade now (eg Bo for a young center and D) we'll have wasted them too because there's no coming back from the hole they've dug. 7 points out of the playoffs, sure 2 games in hand but we just keep losing those games.

Technically we have already seen the 2 opposite ends. Green was prioritizing defense last season. Losing record, gets called out for handcuffing the team's offense. Boudreau is known for unlocking brakes to the offense. Losing record, the team just collapses and leaks goals like it's pouring rain every game.

Green had to go. But there was a majority of people who thought we had a great team and Green was the sole reason for last season's losses.

And now the sentiment on here is once again preaching defense; that's just kinda funny.

Well more news is that JR is not a defense guy.

I don't understand you people. most of you want Bedard. Another few weeks like this and we're right there with the Ducks and Blackhawks.

I just can't see Bedard in a Hawks uniform. How ironic would that be. A kid growing up cheering for the Canucks, and probably against the Hawks, only to be drafted by them.

We're probably well on our way with this team selling their pieces. Bo's on the move out for sure at this point. The question is, who else is going with him?

We're on the process of stripping this team down, management has no choice at this point. The longer they trot out the same garbage onto the ice, the more apathy and indifference sets in. That's bad news for the owner, and for the NHL.

When a Canadian market is apathetic, you know something is very wrong

Oh man, that first goal against is infuriating.

Boeser to his credit back checks hard and actually catches the puck carrier.  But through either mis communication or lack of it-the play becomes an easy-no-chance-for-Martin goal against. Ive seen too many of these strange/discombobulated plays this season, by the team and especially Myers.  It’s one major aspect of this team’s defending that has been a real issue this season.

Jettison the worst of the bunch and clone some Mikheyev replacements. Problem solved

What is even frustrating, if they do get Berdard, is that Stan Bowman said in an interview he doesn't believe in Tanking (and supported the draft lottery system, that year Hawks moved up to the 3rd spot to get Dach). Now they trying to tank and, if they get Berdard, the organization is going to get rewarded by being hypocritical.

Why can't we just have this one guy for our organization. Bedard would instantly change the Canucks. He would be what McDavid was to Edmonton when they drafted him.

Is it not possible though to bottom out and contend the following year?

COL almost did.   But they took a deliberate direction to get there, starting with trading Duchene and Barrie when they were around Brock's age.   Tanked, 45ish points, 20 below us, lost the lottery and drafted Makar (there is some hockey god luck there - we had some top drafting EP after also slipping 3 spots) ... five years later won a cup.   Contend? No, not a year later.   But like PIT, if you're lucky enough to draft a Crosby/Bedard and have other stuff in the stable already,  contending is possible.   We draft Berard ... and he's the real deal, he will be playing in the league next season...maybe we could contend in a couple with him hard to say, but this defense is ugh too.   A two year tank might be a better course.

But wouldn't he be like 3-5 years old back when that rivalry actually existing? 2009-2011?   Born in July ... doubt he remembers that much other than a lot of excitement.    I sure don't remember much from kindergarten other than detention once and "nap time".   That said yes it would be ironic and Canuck luck for us fans ...  We are lucky he is a Canuck fan.

By other stuff in the stable, you mean, Fleury, Malkin, Letang, and Jordan Staal?

We have Demko, Petey, Hughes, and Miller. Does that work?

Jokes aside, Bedard would be a game changer for this team. It would be as you said, dropping a Sidney Crosby on this team.

I can't even fathom to imagine how CDC would react the day we win the lottery.

Aquabrat goes to the podium to draft Fantilli!!! Just to troll CDC! After all, he owns this team and can do whatever he wants with it.

Bruce is an offensive coach but we saw last season that solid defensive coach can help him (Brad Shaw).

It's clear that whatever Yeo has been trying to implement is failing, like Baumer's.

Either way, the coaching staff will not be here come next season.
