[Trade] Rangers trade Vitali Kravtsov to Canucks for William Lockwood, 2026 7th-round pick

Lockwood has 18 points in 26 games in Abby.  There's plenty of offensive upside to his game.

Zero issues with the trade, but let's be honest about what it is based on........being the 9th oa pick

Reid Boucher had 56 goals in 2 seasons in the AHL with the Utica Comets.  He scored 3 goals with Vancouver and is now in the KHL.

Jack Rathbone had 40 points in 39 games with Abby last year.  Is he even close to making the NHL?

Nobody cares what players do in the AHL.  William Lockwood is a fringe NHL player who is injury prone given how he plays.  Kravtsov is a top 10 prospect who could be a star in the NHL.  These players aren't even in the same stratosphere in terms of talent and potential...

Black hole?  How did he get 18 points in 26 games then?

????He has 1 point in 28 NHL games, and -12.

Maybe everyone has a different definition of black hole.  He is nearly 25, he is far more likely to be a career AHLer/waiver fodder than anything.

An AHL player + 7th rounder ... let's be honest if he was going to be something in the NHL NYR would have gotten more than that

They’re a cup contender and they suck at developing players. New York builds through trades and UFA. He’s certainly got a higher ceiling than Lockwood and the pick combined.

New York has gone as far as they can go in his development. Wouldn’t be the first player that needed a change of scenery.

McCann didn’t find his game until age 23 and a couple team changes.

McGoof

Not true. NYR wanted to trade Vitaly for Hoglander but Canucks waited and they got desperate to free cap for the Kane trade. Just because NYR gave him away does not prove that he’s worthless.

Like Ehrhoff nearly 14 (!! ) years ago. Obviously completely different players/values, but the point is valid. Return isn't always based on solely on that value.

Exactly. Not saying he’s a lock to become a fixture anywhere on our roster but the fact that so many ppl dismiss a player who obviously hasn’t had much opportunity on a solid roster is surprising to me
