Other GMs might not like him playing if they wanted him tomorrow, risking injury. Perhaps Miller gets pulled from the lineup at the last minute. Miller listed “week to week” (even though he finished fine in Boston) to avoid the media shitstorm if scratched for TRR. The deal gets botched. Pitts goes for option B and get Granlund.
