[Waivers] Alex Galchenyuk

or better yet, Myers terminates his contract of 6M cap hit + 1M in salary, and than resigns with the Canucks at 2M cap + salary.

4M cap savings and Myers gets an extra million in his pocket!

Is this a CBA loop hole?

I don't know all the rules around contract termination, but I do know that they can't just re-sign with the same team.  It's probably to prevent issues like the NHL had with Yashin who would hold out, while under contract, until the team renegotiated that contract.  But it also works to avoid situations like you described.

I'm fairly certain I saw Myers downtown doing something nefarious.

That's character assassination, even if it's just a joke. Myers is a good guy. He doesn't need that crap. Come on man.

I'm very surprised that no one talked more about WHY he was bought out.

Addiction is no joke and sometimes it might involve someone realizing they have a problem when they're at the bottom. It's justified to point out that this guy is a moron who essentially threw away his NHL career. But right now, he desperately needs help. Some people on Reddit mentioned that Galchenyuk was a pretty big coke user.

One of the few established family men on this young team.  Seems like a super decent guy off the ice.  @Hairy Kneel you got laughs the first time around but you need to stop comparing him to the train wreck that is Galchenyuk.

Giving away any of those players is a dumb idea, they have value contrary to belief on here.

Beau was a cap dump when we acquired him, nothing has changed since. Brock and Garland are slightly overpaid for what they bring, in a flat cap world that's a big issue. If management could've got assets for any of them they'd be gone already.

IMHAO Chucky is a moron. But he’s also (very likely) addicted to booze and drugs so instead of his contract being unilaterally terminated by the club he should be supported and going into the league substance abuse program. Seems wrong what’s being done.

Interesting (and ironic) that our new Beau is actually a much better fit with us than old Bo is with the Islanders. New Beau is on a 4.1 mil cap and old Bo is on  an 8.5 mil cap.

I'd be willing to swap them back, with retention on their end of course :bigblush:

None of what you say here is even close to accurate other than the salaries.
It is all pure fanboy fantasies based on a brief hot streak after a trade, playing with EP because the coach was trying to make a point with Kuzmenko.
Beau is a defensively questionable, small middle six winger who if has a really good year can get you 20g. Bo is a Jack of all trades centre who wins faceoffs, plays both special teams and has scored more than 30 last 2 years.  They aren’t even in the same stratosphere as players.
Bo is the type of player that could get you a first rounder, a good prospect and make you take a salary throw in. Beau is the kind of player that is a salary throw in.

Wouldn't call beau a cap dump.  Nyi needed to unload salary to sign horvat.  Beau is establishing himself as a top 6 forward and has shown natural chemistry and ability to play with petterson and miller.  Hes a low maintenance player thats has yet to hit his prime that can play Tocchets style- in all likelyhood he is staying.

It has been mentioned, but there is also no evidence or claim yet that it is a substance abuse issue.

“Dude on Reddit” doesn’t count.

Maybe not at 8.5M, but Horvat fit this team like a glove last year.  At least before the trade, he was living up to that massive salary bump.  Couldn't afford it of course.

You really weren't watching the Canucks, then.  Everything you've said might've rung true in the beginning of March.  But by the end Beauvillier had dropped from the first line down to the third line.  He FAILED to establish himself on the top six, and was no longer playing with Pettersson when the season ended.

Do these numbers look established to you?
