oldnews
Nathan Walker could be a timely claim with the news of DD being forced to retire....
Quantum
With Dorsett's retirement and Archibald's injury (meaning the Canucks can't sign and call him up), Nathan Walker isn't a bad pick up for the Canucks. He's young and plays a very Dorsett styled game. He's worth a gamble.
BO_Scorvat
Is give Nathan Walker a shot, we could use him on the 4th line
higgyfan
Is he really 5'8"? Maybe just go with Biega on the checking line.

Different websites have different information, so what I posted above may be incorrect. Looking at the Capitals training camp roster, Nathan Walker was listed at 5'9" and 186 lbs. canuckpuckluck1
Pick up the Aussie!!!! Give me something to cheer about on this miserable morning. Boo the whole DD situation.
DownUndaCanuck
Lots of other Australians on this board would love Walker too but in all honesty I'd rather us try and find a real gritty warrior and protector for this team to replace Dorsett. alfstonker
No to both. These are just knee jerk reactions imo We really need to start looking further up the line to gain toughness and grit, so that it is combined with a hockey threat. DD was almost a one off in that he was a much better hockey player than many realised. Hopefully we will have some young players coming through next season or the season after and I honestly don't see the rush when I look at out top 6 at present. That's where the real push back that matters needs to come from (not necessarily fighting but willing to go if pushed) and it's not there.
elvis15
We're ok as is I think, or at least we'll wait for a better option on the waiver wire. Maybe we can make a deal that doesn't hurt our prospect depth, but a claim on either of these two isn't a big deal.
GB5
Looks like the Oilers have claimed Walker according to TSN. https://www.tsn.ca/oilers-claim-forward-walker-from-caps-1.931731
DownUndaCanuck
Walker claimed so we'll get a good look at him every now and then. I'm not sure if the Canucks were above the Oilers on the waiver wire but it would have been interesting to see if JB thought we could use a bit more grit after losing Dorsett via the waiver wire or if he never even had a chance. Quantum
Apparently multiple teams put a claim in on Walker, which I'm not surprised by. Edmonton is lower on the waiver wire, so it makes sense they got to select him first. I'm curious to see if Walker will stick with the Oilers or not. Probably won't get a shot at too many more good players off waivers this year unless we drop fast in the standings.

oldnews
Edmonton - you can add affirmative action Champions to their lottery Champions distinction. City of "Champions" alright. Walker only makes it to 3rd on the waiver wire - no real surprise there. Would have had to been passed by a dozen teams to land in Van. If Goldobin is getting an extended look there may not be much opportunity for him here regardless. But hate seeing Edmonton get any assets for free - they should have a ten year ban from the lottery and the waiver wire.
SID.IS.SID.ME.IS.ME
I’ve been very aware of the Oilers’ struggles this season but I don’t think it became truly real for me until I thought about them actually having priority in a waiver claim. If we're "last" in the waiver pecking order, we've won the cup. My post wasn't exactly clear though.
