While traveling and practicing with the team is a great experience, a player of Gaudette's ilk needs to get meaningful minutes to gain more experience. Utica is looking great, so adding Gaudette will just make them that much stronger. makes sense, he'll be back sooner than later too. He needs a bit more experience as an everyday C and he'll get that there. 2

He's unlikely to become a C at the NHL level so that wasn't ideal either. Would drop Bailey to the 4th and put Jasek with MacEwen.

That sounds like a big drop in cash. 15 minutes ago, goalie13 said: It is. He's going from $925K to $70K. the canucks did him a solid by letting him stay on the roster for an NHL pay period while he wasn't playing, which should net him about the equivalent of his yearly ahl salary. 3 1
Qwags
He'll be back. That preseason was promising. But it's better if he dominates down in Utica.

Sure, yes, he will get a lot of ice time in Utica blah blah blah However, he just made the team after a great pre-season and GM JB said they would make room for players that earned a spot. How long did that last?!? Also disappointed Coach didn’t put him in the lineup opening night .....he deserved it. Totally agree
Coconuts
It's the right move. He's not playing up here and while practicing and learning from NHL talent is beneficial Adam needs to play games. Utica's rolling and he'll be stepping into a great spot in their top six. He can be "the guy" down there as their top c as opposed to being part of the third or fourth line up here.

Down by the River
The only controversy here is how to manage the Utica lineup. Too many veterans.

Its probably the only thing I am disappointed with JB about because like you said, JB said if someone deserves to make the team he would make room now I understand there are circumstances beyond what we may know but I think it sends a bad message to our prospects moving up the depth chart and may trigger some to request a trade thinking there's no room on our team for them

Popular Post Goal:thecup
It will be interesting to watch for improvement in attitude in Utica. There are now several players there that would have played on the Canucks of last year. The Comets will now be looking across the dressing room at other NHL-quality players that are not up with the big club. The competition did not end when pre-season ended; it is now permanent. Even if you are good, you may not be good enough for The Show. This is a very good sign of positive developments in the whole organization. Plus, I like the idea of the three last cuts playing together. That is, Gaud, Baer, and Goldie: a ready-made line to call on, all with NHL experience. 1
Dombrova22
It honestly wouldn't surprise me if this kid requested a trade. And I wouldn't blame him one bit either. 2

By all means, we need to move out some bodies (even with Gaudette in the minors) but it's not the worst thing for young players to be extra ready and get a tonne of development and play time in the minors. That's what good teams do. Edited October 24, 2019 by aGENT 1
