We have two Lou's taking up 9 mil in cap space. And you guys want to weaponize cap space? We've already shot ourselves in the foot with that weapon.

Lawyer in me has come up with a new idea to weaponize cap space. If team X wants to sign, say, Panarin for a cap hit of 8m whilst Panarin still gets paid 12m AAV, team X can agree with team Y to sign Panarin at 12m AAV, then trade him immediately upon signing whilst retaining 4m, for some form of consideration. Technically legal. But way too ballsy.

I would rather have Lucic than Eriksson. Is Lucic my first choice? Of course not, he won’t be any better than Eriksson but he’d be excited to be here and Eriksson clearly isn’t. Lucic was 7th in the league in hits, which will help this team, especially with all our small guys.
What was Eriksson 7th best in the league at? Lack of enthusiasm?
If Ryan Reaves is available I’d rather have him as he’s way cheaper but not when you add Eriksson’s and Reaves’ contract together as there is likely no other way to get rid of Eriksson.

Assuming we do sign Vanek for short term, low $. Do we see him on the top line with Horvat and Boeser. No offence, but Baertschi is getting lucky with Horvat in my opinion as Burrows did with the Sedins. Not saying they're bad players, by all means they are good at what they do. Vanek did have a good year last year and could get upto 25 G with Horvat and act as a mentor for Horvat.
Gives us a chance to see how Horvat is without Baertschi as I personally don't see Baertschi in our long term plans with Horvat.
Thoughts? I'm all for trading Vanek/ Baertschi at the deadline if the price is right...

He isn't starting an nuclear war, North Korea is going to start a war against America, it makes no sense for them to get involved, its just a political play to get sanctions lifted. Supporting a president who hasn't really done anything as President isn't the end of the world; I wouldn't worry about it.

Wonder if Canucks signed Nilsson instead of Miller because he's trade-able while Miller would have demanded a no trade clause....Better to have trade-able assets in a rebuild then not. May have been a contributing factor
