    If only the 2016 draft was like 2015 where the consolation prize for not winning 1st, was another franchise center at #2.

      This draft is deeper. 1st 3 spots are all at least Eichel level if not better. Beyond those 3 it's deep until around 14, with the top 6-10 being top 6 forwards or top 4 D.

    Lets say we get unlucky with the lottery and end up with 5th or 6th overall. Would you trade down to idk 9th or 10th overall to draft Jost? He looks amazing and plus he plays with Boeser next season

    Your opinion on Jost? Would u trade some assets and grab another pick to try to draft him? Or would u even try to grab another 1st rd pick this year.

      Why would you give up an asset (Horvat/Virtanen) who are more developed and worth more than a 10th-15th draftee? It's also redundant because if were picking top 5, were getting a player better than all of those guys.

      my point is what prospects do we have that a team with a top 10 pick would want from us...?...it has nothing to do with who we would trade....i wouldn't trade any of our good young players...some people propose that we trade players we don't want for good players on other teams..that doesn't work...

      IMO let's take Adam Mascherin or Luke Green or Sam Steel or Niemalainen in that range.

    But the salary in Utica is very low. Why wouldn't he want to go back to college? He can get another shot at the championship, a degree, and then become a FA and be able to choose whatever team he likes. True dat lol.

    I THINK Demko may only sign with us if he is on the main team as a backup or something. Why go to Utica and suffer all those painful bus rides?

    I feel like drafting NCAA players is just as risky as drafting russians. They could sign with other teams/KHL.

      McCann, not Horvat. McCann is skilled and will be a great player. But frankly, there is only so much room for young developing centers on an NHL team.

       

      Horvat, Granlund, McCann, and Vey are all kind of battling for 2 spots in the lineup. Granlund has shown the ability to play Wing, giving him some versatility, which Frankly, McCann needs to gain in order to get minutes on the NHL level. If not, he will struggle to get off the fourth or third line. I would love to keep him don't get me wrong, but if a good deal comes our way, you have to give to get.
