  1. Not enough. Dumba is ok but far from elite. I'd be ok with him if we also got their first rounder this year. I'm really hoping JB's eyeing Braden Schneider. Kid is a beast of a defender with more offense to tap into.Just the guy we need. 6'3",, 210 lbs, hits like a freight train, and has a great knack for knowing when to throw his weight around and not take penalties or take himself out of position.
  2. Dhaliwal on TSN said a lot of hockey people say he's NHL ready now and could be on the roster next season. Watching some of his highlights, I see a lot of Quinn Hughes, only with a little more bite ( he is willing to be physical ). Could scouts have misread a lot of what this guy has to offer? He could, very possibly be a second theft of the 2017 draft, far outshining his 4th round selection. If he becomes any where near what Mr. Hughes is, our defense just got a whole lot deeper. The kid's got serious skills.
  3. Wouldn't really put in the blockbuster category. You want a Blockbuster? How about dealing for an unhappy Jack Eichel? That would certainly open a lot of eyes. Eichel and McDavid going head to head on a regular basis would be amazing.
  4. Either way, if Toffoli walks, JB looks silly, once again. It will only be made worse if Madden really turns into something in LA. This is why I believe JB will prioritize Toffoli over everyone else.
  5. I'm saying Canucks. I believe the key to us winning is going to be Marky dominating the crease.
  6. Many people forget that a lot of these players are young adults. Having social lives is a very big deal for them. Our governing body has said it's ok and I'm good with it. The team is exercising extreme caution when it comes to addressing the virus. He is going to be tested before he joins the team. Hockey players are in extremely good health these days. As long as protocols are followed, in the event he or any other player gets it, they should emerge from it without problems.
  7. If I'm going to trade a pick as valuable as this years 1OA, I'm going after pieces we need. I think, right now, our top six is in great shape, if, they can be kept together. We need right side d. I'd be more inclined to go after someone like Adam Fox in New York. A young, offensive defender who's just ending his first season under his ELC, giving us a young, affordable, right handed budding star to add to a very needy blueline. I'd also be looking to shed LE's cap hit. 1OA, Loui Eriksson to NY for Adam Fox They get another key piece to their forward core and we get the badly needed right side threat from the blueline and some cap relief. We then hold on to the saved cap space for next year's offseason when Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes are up for new contracts.
  8. Boeser is simply too important to this team right now to even discuss but, out of shear boredom, I would offer this, as I think the return in your proposal isn't enough to make letting Boeser worth it. Greenway with both their 2020 first rounders for Boeser makes me happier. My main interest here is a Braden Schneider whom I really like and would be ecstatic to get. This deal also nets us, at least, one more first rounder to, either use, or trade in another deal that gets us another core piece. Moving Boeser really puts the pressure on Podkolzin to be what we need him to be; A 1st or 2nd line winger. This is the biggest reason Boeser is so important to us right now. We, simply, don't know what we have in Podkolzin yet. The, very real, possibility of him coming here and not living up to the hype is there, in which case, JB would be up to his neck in criticism from all sides. If he does, however meet or, exceed, the hype, then decisions will have to be made but, until then, Boeser is an untouchable.
  9. I'd definitely like to see him over the 40 pnt mark next season.
  10. The only deal I'd like to see this year is one that gets us a top ten pick. My target would be Braden Schneider. He's ranked as high as 11th. He's a solid RD that plays a spirited game. While not known for fighting, he is known for throwing solid bodychecks. His defensive game is way above average and it's said his offensive game may yet have another level. His playing style is likened to a Jacob Trouba.
  11. Love the enthusiasm. I made a prediction two years ago that we will begin truly being in contention by 2022 and, so far, it still looks like it could be realistic. My prediction is that by the end of the 2021-2022 season Hoglander, Horvat, and Podkolzin will be a feared line in the NHL.
  12. None-the-less, it seems to be an option the Canucks may be willing to do. It still saves them a, very important, bit of money on the cap. Also, I remember it being talked about that a buyout may be more realistic in the last two years of his contract. Does anyone know what the buyout would look like?
  13. Loui Eriksson Pacific Notes: Eriksson, Reaves, Richardson June 19, 2020 at 10:22 am CDT | by Brian La Rose 6 Comments Near the trade deadline, the Sabres waived and sent Zach Bogosian to the AHL. However, instead of reporting, Bogosian opted for a contract termination with an eye on resuming his NHL career and wound up in Tampa Bay shortly thereafter. Sportsnet’s Iain MacIntyre posits that the Canucks may attempt to go down a similar path with winger Loui Eriksson. Part of that ill-fated group of big free agent signings in 2016, Eriksson’s numbers went down as soon as he signed with Vancouver and had 72 points in his first three years combined after putting up 63 in Boston in his final year with them. His output dipped even further this year to just six goals and seven assists in 49 games, hardly a good return on his $6MM price tag. Once his upcoming $3MM signing bonus is paid, Eriksson will be owed just $5MM in salary over the final two years of the deal which might be enough to walk away from if he thinks he can land an opportunity with a bigger role elsewhere. Found this comment very interesting. It would involve JB eating a huge piece of humble pie but, at the end of the day, it still saves the Canucks some very valuable cap space that could be the difference between signing and losing an rfa or affording a Taffoli or Marky. Then it comes down to how badly Loui wants to be in the NHL. He's owed 8 mil. over the next two seasons. I have to believe he's fully worth 2.5 mil. per, to a cup contender looking for an effective penalty killer. Agreeing to terminate with that goal in mind wouldn't be such a bad deal for him. His desire to win could push him into a positive direction for both sidws.
  14. I was thinking about Anaheim's willingness to take on cap. Would Eriksson and Virtanen for Manson work?
  15. I was just wondering. Is there any rule against prepaying money owed, retaining the players services, trading him with no money actually owed, and just trading the cap hit. I couldn't find anything specific on it. I don't think it's circumventing the cap as the cap hit is still in effect; it's simply been traded. The receiving team, essentially, gets a free player.
  16. Sounds like they're more worried about pinching pennies than icing a great team.
  17. Just read Canucks Mailbag on Sportsnet.ca. Ian MacIntyre states that, he believes pre-pandemic, Toffoli could've been looking at a 5 mil. per. contract. If that's anywhere near accurate, I sign him up right now, even with the cap remaining static.
  18. Woo is going to be a polarizing player for me. I'm looking forward to tracking his progression as a pro. Imo, he's going to be an important piece to Vancouvers future success. He may never become an offensive star but, who knows? He could become more the player he was in his draft year. If we get a Tanev type with higher intensity, I'd call picking him a win.
  19. One must also remember Pods is going to be available for the 21-22 season. Could be a more pressing situation than Hogs.
  20. I think going from 12 pnts in 56 games to 33 pnts in 59 games is pretty good progress. However, I do agree patience must be exercised with Hogs' development. With all the bad contracts, he has, at least 1 season to learn the North American game.
  21. Exactly the lineup I was going to propose. I think it's the most balanced lineup we can ice this year. I might swap Roussel and Ferland if Ferland can show he's symptom free. He seems to be one who's honest about how he feels and can be trusted to give an accurate assessment.
  22. The best games are the ones where the whistles are pocketed. Other than plays that are potentially harmful, teams should be given more rope to determine the outcome themselves.
  23. One question I have is; If the cup is, indeed, awarded, What affect would it have, if any, on the salary cap?
