  1. Unfortunately, unless compliance buyouts are re-introduced or the cap goes up, as was planned, I don't see them all returning. Of our free agents, I place priority on Marky, Tofu, Virtanen, Gaudette, Macewen, and Stetcher.
  2. I think these are the hopes and wishes of everyone. I only hope he has a firm grasp on the line where it's time to call it a career. I do have the feeling he's one more incident away from crossing that line. I just hope he can let it go if it does happen.
  3. Definitely need another top line defenceman but, imo, Rafferty will not be more ready then he is now. Right shot with offensive instincts. Has a good 2 way game. Could be a good fit with Hughes. Time to start giving our prospects their shots.
  4. Our right side is set, assuming Tofu is signed. Tofu Boeser Virtanen Macewen I'm hoping we can keep that together.
  5. Was going to say Pavel Bure overtime goal 1994 playoffs, game 7, Calgary Flames, 3rd OT but none of that happened without, "The Save.".
  6. I believe Rick Rypien vs Hal Gill has that beat
  7. So happy for Will. He always said Vancouver was the goal and now he's taking the next step. I'm going to be the optimist and say I look forward to seeing him in the lineup some day.
  8. Fair argument but, as I said; He'd be betting on himself. Right now, I see him in that 5- 5.5 range which seems to be a trend here. Before he came to Vancouver Tofu averaged just over 0.50 ppg. Though a small sample, he dramatically raised his ppg to 1. That is a big jump but hardly enough for him to go after a big contract that sees him to the end of his career. If he can come into next season and produce 70+ pnts, my clients value goes up by a huge margin. It could also add more term at the other end of his career and buy him another season at max pay out. As his agent, my job is to maximize his value and get him as many years as I can. At the very least, he still maintains his current value but still buys more time at the other end of his career.
  9. If I'm Tyler Toffoli's manager, I'm first asking what he wants for his future and if it's in Vancouver. If Vancouver is realistic, I'm placing a value on Tyler that he's happy with. The real strategy is whether he takes a longer deal based on his performance, thus far, in his career, or does he bet on himself continuing to light it up with Petey and JT over the course of a shorter deal to really go for the big money later. If I'm his agent, I'm all for him betting on himself. He lit it up after the trade, getting 10 pnts in 10 games. That's a huge improvement,projection-wise and has to be quite tantalizing for JB and could be career changing for Tyler. 1yr @ 6 million This deal gives Tyler a healthy raise and isn't terrible for the team. If he does continue his torrid pace, or close to it, the deal provides value for the team as well. It also doesn't lock either party into a long-term, undesirable position if things go south, giving both sides freedoms at the end of it to either renegotiate a long-term deal or walk away.
  10. This situation is such an extraordinary one that it will require unique concessions from both, the NHL and the NHPA. I'm sure once they get back to playing hockey, the sides will have a resolution in place.
  11. I don't believe there will be any satisfactory answer to this situation but this would be the most logical way to do it. It would suck, to say the least but hey, Canuck luck; Right? I just want the Miller trade to be completed and have no desire to see it drug out. I must say though; Miller has been worth every piece of the deal.
  12. MVP- Marky/Mller Unsung- Virtanen/Gaudette Exciting- Petey/Hughes Defenceman- Edler/Hughes
  13. It would, definitely, be bizarre but kind of cool. With fan noise eliminated, we'd be able to hear everything that s said on the ice.
  14. Even with the bad contracts, we're fine. We have just over 16 mil. coming off the books and a projected cap raise of, at least, 3 mil. totalling 19 and change. Imo, the keepers are Toffoli, Virtanen, Macewen, Stetcher, and Gaudette. I'm all for letting Tanev, Motte, and Fantenberg walk. Tanev has had a great run in a Vancouver uniform but I feel a change is needed on the blue line. Motte has filled in admirably but Macewen has shown he belongs and space must be made. Fantenberg, again, has filled in and done a good job but it's time to make aforementioned changes to our dcore. The one ufa I'd really like JB to go after aggressively is Joel Edmonson, Big, physical, defensively minded, and is showing he can put up some offence. I think he'd be a good fit with Tyler Myers who would be able to play a little more to his skillset in the offensive zone. Although I've carried on a bit, my point is that, as rfa's come up, contracts will be ending. I see no reason to worry.
  15. JB doesn't seem to be the type of gm that trades for rentals. Imo, his plan is to re-sign Tofu unless the price is too rich.
  16. So excited to see this kid in the, not to distant, future. He's got playoff hockey written all over him.
  17. Totally agree. Canuck nation wants to see playoff hockey again and it's tough to watch important points being thrown away but those who've not seen playoff style hockey are experiencing the harder, tougher, more desperate hockey that comes with fighting for the post season. It will be valuable knowledge moving forward. JB is also garnering valuable information about the team and where improvements need to be made. Like every other Nuck fan, I to want to see playoffs return to Vancouver but, if we're not ready, we're not ready and another year of development will be necessary. I must say, however, it's been a fun season and watching important hockey, this late in the season is a refreshing change.
  18. Such a wonderful problem to have.
  19. We're in a tough spot when it comes to moving a dman before the playoffs. We simply don't have enough quality blueliners ready in our system right now. Imo, the most logical move would be to let Tanev walk at seasons end and re-sign Stetch. A lot of fans talk about good asset management. In this case, letting a player walk is the better option to losing a good defensive dman in Stetch. We open a roster spot and keep a quality blueliner who is able to stay healthy. Another option is taking a chance that Tryamkin will adequately fill Tanev's boots and deal Tanev by Monday. TO's in need of some defensive help. Tanev to TO for a pick.
  20. I don'the mind this deal. A fix for both teams. Could still try to sign Anderson as a true back up for Marky.
  21. I wonder if they'd do: Tanner Pearson, Thatcher Demko, and their choice of Kole Lind or Tyler Madden for Max Domi, Keith Kinkaid and their first round pick in either 2020 or 2021 ( their choice )? Domi gives us a top six grinder who puts up numbers. He's also buddies with Horvat. He'd fit right in. At 25, he's still got a lot of years ahead of him and would, imo, complete our top-six. Kinkaid is obviously going to be taking over backup duties. I like him because he's a true backup; he'll never challenge for a starting position and shouldn't cost much to re-sign to a short term deal. We also get a first round pick that probably gets deferred to next year but then gives us two in one draft. Not bad. Imo. They get a replacement for Domi's lost offence in Pearson, a goalie that may make the prospect of cashing in on Carey Price more tantalizing, and a top notch prospect to add to their future lineup. Miller Pettersson Boeser Domi Horvat Virtanen
  22. We are definitely in a good place as far as team development. We're in 1st place in our division, our young roster players are producing in all aspects of the game, and our prospect pool is deeper than it's ever been. Now our team gets to learn what it's like to be chased rather than doing the chasing.
  23. Acquiring Anderson could be one of those "under the radar" moves that could pay big dividends. I don'the know much about him but he's one year removed from a 47 point season and two 30 point campaigns. Scouting says he plays an edgy game which is a dynamic we need more of in our lineup. Given EP40's skillset and ability to elevate players around him, Anderson could become another key piece much like JT Miller (though to a lesser degree). Another key point is that his current contract is absorbable. Could be good spot for Josh Leivo.
