i wouldn't mind if the canucks gave up a 3rd round pick for logan thompson.
he could fight out between between silovs and martin for back up.
by all reports he has an excellent future. perhaps silova an thompson would be a good tandem someday. he makes less than 800,000 this season.

Exactly, @Ghostsof1915. That’s why signing Schneider makes more sense. All it costs is a roster spot and the league minimum salary.

i'ld like to ask tocchet, what kind of winger he'ld most like to play with petey and kuz, and if he feels that winger is already here?

That is acceptable @Ghostsof1915

i kind of see mikheyev's speed and defensive play a perfect fit with miller and boeser, who aren't fast or good defensively. i think tocchet wants some grittier guy with petey and kuz, who will throw them down if need be. hard to play against and strong on the boards. someone like burrows, big burt, fraser or kurtenbach. i don't see that player on the team yet.
joshua and garland could make suters 3rd line very effective. diguiseppe and pods with blunger or aman could be gritty enough.
i have boeser, beauvillier and Hoglander fighting for that 2nd line winger.
would anyone say, this team is hard to play against?

is tocchet still wanting allvin to add a gritty winger thats hard to play against.?

Ha, ha, ha. I can't, but Google can. But whenever I don't know the answer, I don't use Google to look it up. So, I only go with what I am pretty sure I know. I think know that Conacher was named best athlete of the half-century (1900-1950), and I think he might have played for the football Argonauts.

there is only one thing worse than raining cats and dogs and that is hailing streetcars and buses. ouch.

RIP tony bennet. you had a long run.

136 members to get to a hundred thousand. should there be fireworks? a roman candle?

i hope canucks resign bear.

waiting for the new series, fear of the singing and dancing in the rain dead. hey, it's silly season. i'm in.
-
canucks have 11 wingers to choose from. there is only room for 8 or 9. i believe they still want to add a gritty winger or two.
who are the odd ones out?

It's probably going to come down to Podz can bring different elements to the table than Hogs can.
Training camp is going to be interesting this year. The bigger question is who's going to be #3-4 centres this year? And will some of the farm players impress enough to grab a job in Training camp and pre-season?
-
I think Rick will go for skill in the top-6, all grit in the bottom-6, but one good forechecker on each of the top 2 lines. Mikheyev has the first line forechecking role, PDG had the 2nd line role but I think that's up for grabs.
Hopefully Hoglander or Podkolzin (or even Garland or Beauvillier) can nab that spot but PDG and Miller had some nice chemistry last year.
If Pearson is somehow healthy he'd be the perfect Tocchet-type player so you never know.

has anyone ever made crumpets?
i'm going to try tomorrow after i get some baking soda.
wish me luck.

i'm more excited in what this team will look like in 3 years, than i am right now. the rebuild we've been wanting.
-
Oh they are just stop gap measures, just short term ones.
Like that they aren't crippling us with LT deals but still think overall we squandered opportunities to be better.
This is definitely a transition period over the next couple years waiting for some of Benning's bad contract to expire.
In 2 years when the OEL penalty balloons we should be clear of Myers and Brock and have a bunch of young talent getting ready to break into the league. Raty and Klimovich have been paired together in Abby and probably need another couple seasons before contemplate full time NHL, Willander and EP2 should be coming to NA about the same time as well we may see JL coming into replace Brock on wing.
Lots of young cost controlled options coming in if they develop.

i had a surprize visitor last night.
young j.i.a.h.n. dropped by on his way to rupert. had a nice chap. 2nd time he's stopped by. we both agreed that deb was canuck's #1 fan.

what would it take to get logan thompson from vegas?
and the trade demko this year or next?
-
would you trade miller to columbus for roslovic, peeke and a 2nd or makarov?
-
there are now 8 teams with worse cap situstions than canucks.
onward and upward to valhallah

what elements are needed for a defenseman to be able to play both sides? is it taught early in their development?

My last coach played for the Regina pats and Ottawa 67s eventually finding his way out west and playing SrA he stressed positional play. Each dman was responsible for 1/2 of the ice but in a limited role in the ozone. ( pinching in) only done if it seemed it could be done successfully and not done if you had the least bit of confidence in pulling it off ( getting caught up ice) as for east west d zone play the defender had his side from the corner to the slot area , as play moves from one side to the other both dman are moving laterally in unison switching out who’s in the slot position as play goes from side to side. I seen Myers and OEL screw this positional discipline up so badly it became laughable.
-
but why can't all defensemen do it? i see modtly left shot d men who can play the right side. not as many right shot d who can play both sides. i would imagine it has something to do with taking the puck off of the opposite boards and transferring the backhand to forehand.
since there are several players in the nhl that can do it, what exact skills do they have to be able to be as effective on both sides?
hi chonsy, still living the life of reilly

allvin told his scouts to find players with the mmost upside in the draft. at 11, who could that be?
